Sometimes, when someone forces women to watch them masturbate, no one gives a fuck about the "finest art they've ever made."
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

Growing up in the South, I remember the appeal of the Confederacy lore in school was because a bunch of fucking idiots took being called the descendants of traitorous losers really personally.

They had to create a reality where their ancestors were heroes.

Steam is like how California operates as a second regulatory structure for the US because it's too big to not obey
Steam being a pseudo monopoly is complicated. It's obviously got downsides, but the AI disclosure requirement makes it so realistically everything releasing on PC has to disclose or risk getting banned right off the PC platform forever and it's the only way we'd find out about some of this shit.

The diplomatic "achievement" of the ceasefire was to recalibrate the tempo of the genocide sufficiently to get it off the front pages and the news bulletins, thus alleviating the political pressure on Israel's western accomplices.

This shit is why I'm getting less and less work on anime and having to scramble to ask around with YouTubers for help letting me do their CCs just to pay my damn rent. There's enough anime to caption out there that I should not be fucking struggling.
After publishing this article, I've heard from many that CR seems to be using AI to produce dub CCs. Now, thanks to a slip-up CR had with episode 6 dub of The Banished Court Magician, we can say that with 100% certainty: Crunchyroll is using the AI service Ollang.com for its dub closed captions!

It's a small personal victory, but I actually used おれ in public at work yesterday and it felt super natural and good! >w<
It's gonna take a while until it's more natural than 私 to use as my default, but I'm definitely liking how it feels! ^w^

i keep seeing people ask why the reporters in the room don't push back or defend their colleagues when trump insults them, & i hate to break it to you but they all love him. they think he is brilliant and want to kiss him

Older man with a cane flags me down on a quiet little residential street.

He points to the park. He points to the leaves changing color on the trees.

"Beautiful," he says.

I look.

"Beautiful," I say.

"That's it," he says, and walks away.

One of the biggest shocks of my adult life was realizing there's a hidden division in society between people who think certain acts - cruelty, torture, murder - are inherently wrong, versus the majority of people who think there are no wrong actions, just incorrect targets.

RSD really is one of those things connected to ADHD that is really not well known and I highly recommend people connected to or have ADHD look into to it.
A little talked about symptom of ADHD is Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD).

This is an intense feeling that everyone hates you.

RSD comes in waves, and does not require events to trigger it. You can be walking along with friends having a great time and suddenly you feel an outsider.

Spoke with a source who told me the call volume is so high, a call center for both Mastercard & Visa is bringing out pizza and ice cream so agents don’t quite amid the rush. Long waits are causing dropped calls.

What you’re doing is working. Call MC & Visa.

To reiterate - the Scabs were being treated so badly that they *also* unionised.
I'll tell you how bad Labour are fucking up- in Birmingham, the bin men have been on strike for 11 months against a 20% pay cut. The agency workers they hired as scabs have been treated so badly that they themselves have now voted for strike action.

Not sure if it's journalistic best practice to frame "proof of involvement in a decades-long ring of powerful child rapists" as "the greatest challenge to his legacy."

Unless you're trying to actively help him overcome it, I think it should rightly be framed as the final word on his legacy.

Targeting Kelly is one of those “this is why we’ll win” moments, bc it shows how politically impetuous this admin is.

There’s clearly no adult in the room to say “wait, maybe don’t go after the charismatic war hero turned literal astronaut who ran after his wife was a victim of political violence.”
Mark Kelly: "My wife, Gabby Giffords, meeting with her constituents, shot in the head. Six people killed around her, a horrific thing. She spent six months in the hospital. We know what political violence is and we know what causes it too, The statements that Donald Trump made incites others."

this point really hits the nail on the head of why localization workers are so frustrated by “AI” loc companies.
freelancers have to beg for a single dollar wage increase, while tens of millions are dumped into a machine designed to replace them.
the machine doesn’t even work. freelancers do.
one of the things that makes me most mad about genAI (and there are many) is we've been told there's not enough money for hiring. but there's billions poured into ai.

so not enough money to hire workers. but infinite money to pour into technology whose goal is never having to pay workers again.
