Japanese doesn't really use gendered pronouns much, which means I often get to instead figure out whether people understand my gender correctly based on which gender they presume I'm attracted to.

Stuck my hand into my bag to grab my powerbank, only to feel something surprisingly hot in there. A moment of panic--is one of my devices overheating? Then, I feel the texture better, and relax again as I realise it's just the sasami-age I got from the conbini.

I think I'll use expressway busses as a replacement for shinkansen more in the future. It saves so much money and it really isn't that uncomfortable.

I've become a regular at this nice little bar/restaurant to the point where staff and customers yell my name when I come in, but in about a week I'll be moving to a completely different part of Tokyo.....

There's an amazing photo exhibition at the Sendai Mediatheque, displaying works by local high school students.
They ask visitors not to post the works to social media, so you'll have to make do with this purposefully blurry photo taken by me.

Japanese people love going "Ah I thought you were a woman" when I start speaking, which like--first of all, why would you say that? lol--but also offers me an opportunity to tell them their first instinct was right and then they'll compliment me by calling me 綺麗 or a 美人 lmao
