I'm very excited to announce I'm one of the four members of Tokyo Review's new editorial team!

I especially look forward to platforming promising fellow early-career scholars, and contributing to a much-needed increase in in-depth English-language analysis on Japanese society and politics.

A lot of great statistics and information on recent court cases in this article by @suika.bsky.social:

"In a 2023 Pew Research survey...68% of Japanese respondents were either somewhat (56%) or completely (11%) in favor, and 26% were somewhat (18%) or fully (8%) opposed to same-sex marriage."

Had many pleasant conversations with people selling tanka and other stuff at the Bungaku Furima and now I'm even more determined to work towards having my own booth there next year

Wait, so does the totalization agreement between Japan and the Netherlands mean I'd one day be eligible for Japanese pensions, even without having paid into the system for 10 or more years?

Anyone have experience working at conbini?

On the one hand, the pay seems atrocious and it doesn't look particularly good on my CV. On the other hand, I was thinking that working at one for 1~2 days a week for some time could be interesting in and of itself.
