Random patterns of exquisite beauty - revealing random ideas - that occassionally - just possibly - when reflected upon - may just change the way we think about what we think about!!

I used to think I wanted to be a scientist, but when I really reflect, I just wanted to look at random things through fancy microscopes.

Congratulations: This image is absolutely stunning

Do yourself a favour 🦋- take a moment - open the pic - dive into the beauty of microscope for a moment - just to really remember and pause in awe at the elegance of nature ❤️ (even if you do get #allergies!!)

Any chance we think this might actually work?
Or are we just compounding our doom by splitting the pack even further … ?
Answers on a postcard.
Latest poll puts Greens just two points behind Labour. When I said we weren't here to be disappointed in Labour but to replace them, I meant it.

Join us and let's make hope normal again.

In any other country, if federal agents fired upon journalists when unprovoked — what would we call it?

If federal agents marched down streets demanding papers — what would we say?

Authoritarianism — let’s not pretend it’s something else when it happens in our American cities.

Just putting my head above the parapet to ask :

How many have returned to X?

And if you have: why?

And if you haven’t and 🦋 isn’t meeting your needs - where else do you go most regularly?

(Genuinely curious question!)

By betraying his voters so comprehensively and so soon, Keir Starmer has done us a favour. He has given us 4 years to design the government we want.
In this week's column I explain how it can be done. There's massive
potential, but we need to start now. 🧵

This paper was all in my voice! Too long but 😍. It was the first commentary Ive written about the science I’m so passionate about! (I do still need to learn about white space!!!)

I can only think we fight it with hope, patience, and continued rebellion ….

Still so excited by our paper!

Multidisciplinary, creative, innovative & fun: this was “doing” science at its best 🚀🧪
Helpful that it a) reveals (quantitatively) that human #islets retain a conserved mantle-core structure & b) offers a nuanced tool to compare the subtleties of data distributions.

Humbled by the women in science before me: 🧪🔬🥼🚀
On this day in 1879, Maud Menten was born in Port Lambton, Ontario.
In her work as a medical researcher, she became a leading expert in histochemistry and enzyme kinetics while fighting against sexism in her field.

So sad to read :
How is it possible that this is happening to science in 2025 !!!!?????
This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH
