Always my favourite Christmas thead. Essential Christmas reading if you haven't come across it before!
The most stressed out I've ever been about Christmas was when I was 16 and I got my first ever job, working at M&S in Dundrum. As soon as I started I kept hearing these myths about the Christmas Eve Waste Sale, where all the food that wasn't sold on the 24th was marked down 90%.

I remember when there was a discussion on Twitter about Shein's manufacturing practices and some apologists invented all sorts of fantastical machinery and technology to avoid facing the more horrifying truth. Reminds me of this comedian's joke.

i missed this thread about hippos and all the science as to *why* they are terrifying murder cows the first time it was around
Additionally, hippos - despite being massive - have almost no fat on them. All of that impressive bulk is muscle.

2% body fat. Compare that to Elephants, which are around 8-10%, or rhinos, which are 10-20%.

The average human is around 20-40%, for reference.

They're *all* muscle.

Following the tragic deaths over the weekend, I wanted to understand were there areas in Ireland that were more dangerous than others for road deaths and injuries.
I've produced the map below, which I hope will draw attention to where road safety efforts may help save lives.

There once was a man who said "scone"
So that it rhymed with "gone",
But his wife said "scone"
To rhyme with "tone";
That marriage is over, it's done.

This is a disastrous move. RTE's documentary-makers in both radio and TV are held in very high esteem all over the globe, and to shutter the in-house TV unit is as stupid as it is short-sighted.
