Couldn't agree more, vital that this doesn't get diluted by fear of culture wars.

We need a curriculum that represents the diversity of our society, promotes genuine social cohesion, and counters the polarisation that has contributed to racist rioting across the UK.

Section 28 didn’t come out of nowhere.
It came from a society where 75% thought homosexuality was wrong.
From a society that feared the sight of a man in drag would corrupt.
From a society that believed ignorance was better for children than any knowledge of gay lives.

The Lost Logos of the London Boroughs makes its debut away from the other place. Unbelievably, I last updated this 18 months ago. However, with Wandsworth’s retiring of its “brighter borough” skyline logo, it’s time for a new version…
Apologies, it’s hard to do justice to this on alt text…

At the behest of Wall Street donors, Congressional Republicans are trying to overturn the CFPB's new rule against predatory overdraft fees.

The rule would have capped overdraft charges at $5, saving consumers $5B annually.

The GOP is the party of junk fees.
Banks Approve of Republicans Increasing Bank Fees
A Biden-era CFPB rule limiting overdraft fees is under challenge, and lawmakers used bank lobbyists for their testimonials.

While welcoming progress on local climate leadership, proposals need strengthening — and more detail on how they'll work with wider re-organisation.

I'd pay for @bsky.app if they would fix the photo uploading and posting, huge barrier to full migration and very 🐛, also a total waste of time! If anyone has work around or tips, do let me know.

So today felt colder, was far muddier & not quite so beautiful, but a more rested version of me hit Hackney Marshes #ParkRun. Pleased to shave off 6secs, for a perfectly round 26:00, still 7secs off my 5km PB & best time this year & also an epic 4:52 for my first km. Good vibes, chats & ☕️!

Rightly, Labour folk & many others have been paying tribute to John Prescott in the past few days. If you want to know more about his global & climate impact, go see #KyotoPlay. Also a huge domestic legacy from Decent Homes to New Deal for Communities programme in Hackney & across the country.

Attempting to blitz some Oscar nominted films, glad I braved rain & 🚲 to @riocinema for A Complete Unknown. There's clearly a maverick narcissism at the ❤️ of Dylan, but it's a compelling film, with brilliant performances (inc TC) fizzing through a momentus era & his early iconic music

An illuminating thread, I think it speaks for itself 👇
Reform deputy leader Richard Tice would also have emigrated to Dubai post-election if he had come second in the Boston & Skegness constituency contest (won a majority of 2000), his partner Isabel Oakeshott reveals in her Telegraph column.

This is a bit of a broken thread because of @bsky.app posting issues*, but anyway in so many ways back on it today. 1st Hackney Marshes #ParkRun of 2025, beautiful sunshine & 2nd fastest 5k 26:06 & only 13s off my PB. Not bad given out last night & focused more on gym than running in past few weeks

⏰ It's been a month since UK100 hosted our most successful Parliamentary Reception yet.

Over 150 cross-party local leaders, parliamentarians, industry experts and climate and local government champions came together to celebrate local climate action.

And what an evening it was! 🎉

It being light going in and coming out is definitely nicer.
You know it's January when you arrive and leave the gym in the dark.

Love an inbox filled with out of offices, but also I would like to point out that mine does not go on until tomorrow night. Then it's actually Christmas.

Still have a few #parkrun left in me before end of year, but today was a toughy. Windy, went out way too fast at 5:03, which was totally unrealistic for someone who missed past two weeks & had a chest infection. Fun times, did it in 26:52, got some mud on & nice coffee & chat after 🏃‍♂️ ☕️

Plus the Sisters, were huge fun in the bar after, hugely tolerant of my mid show bathroom break from the front row, brought out the best in the audience (who were also a delight) & encouraged photos! Refreshing and fab ❤️🎄!
2nd show was last night & I absolutely loved seeing the warmly camp Christmas romp that is The Sisters of Shesus do Christmas at Mum's. Lots of brilliant audience participation, songs, nostalgia, observation & comedy+prawn ring!
Last show tonight @sohotheatre.bsky.social, do go!

This week saw two Christmassy shows that are closing tonight. First on Thursday was my third @AwkwardProds production this year & was the hugely fun & enjoyable #GwynethGoesSkiing at the brilliant The Pleasance Theatre. All tickets are now £10 so no excuses go!

Last night, a beautiful festive concert in Hackney. The St John of Jerusalem Festival Chorus: www.festivalchorushackney.org.uk performed Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio with the Haydn Chamber Orchestra: hco.org.uk. They were joined by great professional singers & threw in four fab carols!
