So today felt colder, was far muddier & not quite so beautiful, but a more rested version of me hit Hackney Marshes #ParkRun. Pleased to shave off 6secs, for a perfectly round 26:00, still 7secs off my 5km PB & best time this year & also an epic 4:52 for my first km. Good vibes, chats & ☕️!

This is a bit of a broken thread because of @bsky.app posting issues*, but anyway in so many ways back on it today. 1st Hackney Marshes #ParkRun of 2025, beautiful sunshine & 2nd fastest 5k 26:06 & only 13s off my PB. Not bad given out last night & focused more on gym than running in past few weeks

Still have a few #parkrun left in me before end of year, but today was a toughy. Windy, went out way too fast at 5:03, which was totally unrealistic for someone who missed past two weeks & had a chest infection. Fun times, did it in 26:52, got some mud on & nice coffee & chat after 🏃♂️ ☕️

2nd show was last night & I absolutely loved seeing the warmly camp Christmas romp that is The Sisters of Shesus do Christmas at Mum's. Lots of brilliant audience participation, songs, nostalgia, observation & comedy+prawn ring!

Last night, a beautiful festive concert in Hackney. The St John of Jerusalem Festival Chorus: www.festivalchorushackney.org.uk performed Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio with the Haydn Chamber Orchestra: hco.org.uk. They were joined by great professional singers & threw in four fab carols!

Today was back in Hackney for @parkrunuk.bsky.social on #HackneyMarshes. After a fairly late night, happy with a surprisingly gd performance for my 25th run there. The result was second fastest #ParkRun time of 26:08, came 169th, 21st in my age group (months left) & it was surprisingly warm! Then ☕️!

Thanks to a perfect alignment, of mutual availability, saw the simply stunning Anora last night at Barbican Cinema. To my shame, I hadn't heard of it beforehand, but it's a breathtakingly dark comedy thriller w/ superb & sublime performances. Track it down, & see it in the cinema now!

Thanks to a perfect alignment, of mutual availability, saw the simply stunning Anora last night at Barbican Cinema. To my shame, I hadn't heard of it beforehand, but it's a breathtakingly dark comedy thriller w/ superb & sublime performances. Track it down, & see it in the cinema now!

Plenty of time* earlier to admire the lovely new Overground maps of the new lines, was a cautious sceptic at the start; but now growing to love them.
*obvs Mildmay Line celebrated by having a points failure, so got to switch to Windrush Line via lovely Dalston. Still missed my train to Nottingham.

Unexpected trip to the cinema @ Barbican for Steve McQueen's Blitz. While I'm unsure if it's the right word, I really 'enjoyed' it; liked civilian focus, exploration of race & racism during WWII & that the 'spirit' of the Blitz was of course complex, some stand out performances too #PGCultureTips

First #ParkRun post on @bsky.app, also back at Hackney Marshes for the first time since Sept. That was a PB, today was not, but a respectable 26:26 coming in at 196th in perfect crisp conditions, though out of shape despite the running in the states & went out too fast. Enjoyed the coffee after!
