Permadeath D&D streaming may be on hold for now, but I am still a wildman over all things tabletop.

Here, you may get little hints of my side projects in that arena, streams, etc.

But you'll also need a high tolerance for niche TTRPG babble, yes, even regarding The Hasbro Product.

Too lazy to log into @permadeath.bsky.social

But: highlight of my week was a dear friend's character in Call of Cthulhu getting pulped by an abomination, in a ~2006 era gaming store? (IDK, just mythos things)

Amazing soundtrack, literally ran out of fake blood while shooting, manifest destiny as literal vampirism and gay enough that the Hannibal TV show poached half the cast

Man, I had such clear eyed plans this morning, and the motivation to solve a hard script problem. The stakes of this deadline are so incredibly high. But one unrelated non-work crisis after another said: no keyboard for you.

It's pure RNG, I'm sure. Yet I can't escape the feeling of being trolled.

Oh man, look at this. Were I still doing dice with death - or allowing the algorithm to steal my face's soul at all anymore ...

... this'd be the perfect paperback to close, feign startlement, then say "Oh, I didn't see you there" in the cliche fashion, before talking about the evening's bloodbath.

If you're into permadeath and D&D and want to test your mettle, try this BG3 mod on Honor mode. The "Trials of Tav Reloaded". (I've played story to death.)

Turns it into a roguelike series of escalating difficulty arenas. If you're a D&D combat pervert ... damn it's a good time.

If your group's still playing 5.5, before they f*ck off to Daggerheart or Draw Steel etc

Play a Pact of the Chain warlock. You can mix and match now, but Chain is, uh "off it"

Yes I know that's dated slang but the point is

New UA - I like the re-issued Hexblade, though its focus is more on enhanced defense 'til level 6+

Probably fine, old one was absurdly frontloaded. I do miss the curse's flat damage. Crit-on-19 is way late now too, so DPR minded folks will clamor for more tweaks.

Agreed. Danger w/ the Hollow Warden is: like the old Gloomstalker, it makes the otherwise very-tepid Ranger subs look deeply sad 'til... like level 11? Hardcopy books prevent easy rebalancing.

If they ship this as is, it may be the only Ranger you see in the 'wild'. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sGP...

New UA. The bad: Okay, 2 skeletal 👎 for the poor Grave Cleric. Double damage & anti-crit, gone. Hexblade is now a grab bag of utility who must concentrate on Hex?! RIP.

Wotc, bestie, folks liked the blade bit, not the hex bit. Feedback will be LOUD. (1/2)

This is what Dice w/ Death was to me, editing video is *very* soothing.

I effed the joy up by imagining "audience expectations" of regularity that were incompatible w/ a fairly demanding job / life.

Next round, I'll find a way to relax / preclude that pressure, y'know - since I F-ing made them up.
Gentle recommendation to have a hobby that you can 1) do on your own time 2) are not doing for livelihood or career 3) can grow your skill in over time, and 4) can focus on for chunks of time where you can tune other things out. I spent a couple hours last night developing film and it was excellent
