it's okay to "Thing, Japan" over Japanese stationery because they objectively do stationery better than we do. About to order a mechanical pencil that's designed to slowly rotate the lead as you write with it so it stays sharp and you don't have to turn the pencil around in your hand.

i think if you can look at all the evidence around epstein and still be dismissive you are truly just communicating that no survivors of SA in your life can rely on you to support them when they need it
Those of us who are SA survivors are used to the mass shrug in response to even the most overt evidence of horrific behavior. Epstein's crimes and the complicity of many influential figures involved have been known for decades (’05 to be exact). It's never mustered much interest or consequence.

It is pretty funny, in a terrible way, to imagine Epstein's increasing frustration in trying to sell out his well cultivated asset over and over to no avail whatsoever
My 50¢ raise is due on November 30th, I'm gonna try to ask my boss for like a $3-5 raise before then because frankly every pay period I am putting off important car maintenance and eating ramen for lunch every day because I can't afford anything

the lack of any senators pushing publicly for schumer's removal feels like it shows the real value he brings to the senate is "is willing to be yelled at in place of other people". nobody wants to take center stage and the attention that'd put on them, not even for gaining power.

Jesus Christ in the midst of Epstein-o-rama I nearly fucking forgot that Chuck Schumer tripled my health insurance costs for the sake of the Senate rule that lets them pretend to support popular legislation while at the same time letting it get killed for their wealthy donors.
funny thing is the dems coming out to say protecting the filibuster is so important wouldn't be so bad if they were willing to scrap the virtual filibuster and force a return to the talking filibuster but these fuckers who refuse to skip a three day weekend are never gonna do that either

tbh I don't think I'll ever get over how ridiculous and it is when 40 or 50 or 60 year olds freak out that 20 year olds don't have all the same cultural touchstones that they do. There's been a lot more culture since then, there's no way they can already know all of it.

i’ve encountered this so often in the last month talking to normies and even one or two distant family members. “well i didn’t know this is what that meant!!!” i try very hard to explain gently that this is always what it would mean and usually they end up realizing leaving people alone is the way.
Also most voters have just never thought remotely seriously about policy. “Should we get rid of illegal immigrants? Well, of course; they’re illegal!” There’s nothing deeper than that going on until they start seeing what that actually entails.
Some Dems and pundits overread the significance of Trump's win. They looked at dissatisfaction with the border and discerned a seismic cultural reaction to immigration levels inside the country. The former was real. The latter is a mirage.
