Interesting that after three and a half years of an ever more high-tech drone war in Ukraine and Russia the EU and NATO has done zero to defend itself against drones. Ukraine is soon to be attacked by 1,000 drones per night. How would any EU country do if 100 drones attacked? We are sitting ducks.

Trump is admitting two things here. The first is that he has been serving Russian interests by protecting Putin on numerous occasions. The second is that Trump is feeling pressure to be harder on Russia, which he really doesn’t want to do.

Policymakers are reluctant to say it - and no doubt also reluctant to believe it - but Europe and other democratic allies no longer have a trustworthy security partner in the US. The post-WW2 alliance with the US is gone and what remains of the West needs to move very quickly to secure itself.

As President Trump is again bringing up the “tens of millions” of Russians who died in WWII, it is worth underlining that he likely means Soviet not Russian casualties. In reality, Ukraine lost far more people than Russia proportionally, while only a small part of Russia was ever occupied

Es war immer klar, dass es so kommen könnte. Trotzdem wurde in Europa nicht gehandelt, um die #Ukraine in eine Position der Stärke zu bringen. Jetzt verhandeln Trump & Putin, von der Teilnahme der 🇺🇦 ist nicht die Rede, und nur einer - Trump - setzt sich damit unter Erfolgsdruck.
