Turns out it can happen over there. Let’s stop it happening over here.

The far right wins when people lose faith in democracy. So: strengthen the Electoral Commission; limit foreign interference; enfranchise 16-year-olds; make voting automatic.

The time for action is now, writes Calix Eden.

Maybe dem reps could hold their own state of the union on the Capitol steps. Steal the spotlight. Let members like AOC, Jasmine Crockett, Max Frost, and the DNC make remarks. Norms don't exist. Buck them.

Remarkable to see so many of those who talked up "Global Britain" in the pre and post Brexit fantasy now deliberately talking our country down and saying we can't move without US

For the first time in years, we look grown up, and whatever you might think of Starmer, then that's to be applauded.

A hero and a coward are meeting in the Oval Office today.

And when the meeting is over, the hero will return home to Ukraine.

My dear fellow leftists:

What we need is a Popular Front. You don’t build successful coalitions by shitting on every action that isn’t sufficiently radical for your analysis. Meet people where they are at or we’re sunk.

This is a story. Greens almost unseat Conservatives with Reform in close third place.

And yet this party is breathlessly reported.
207 council by-elections since the General Election, just 12 seats won for Reform UK.

There were 5 council by-elections this week Reform UK won 1.

They have just 72 out of 20k councillors across the UK.

A councillor resigned from the party last night meaning their net councillor gain is 0 today.

NEW: Just 6% of Gen Z say they actually want a dictator – not over half, as has been recently claimed.

Our study finds only a very small minority of 13-27-yr-olds really feel this way, when their views and interpretations are tested with different questioning approaches 🧵⬇️

Tesla’s shareholders just lost another $38,640,000,000 today — a total $TSLA loss of $600 billion since December.

Tesla’s CEO was not in the office.

In literally any other public company ever, this would be the point where the CEO gets fired.

The best way to confront a bully about the misinformation he is spreading is to confront him in front of everyone. Macron just did that.

Reform’s standing in the opinion polls is what happens when a governing class is seduced by the otherworldly and simplistic fantasies of academia.

Sam Fender is right about white privilege
Sam Fender said talk of ‘white privilege’ has resulted in boys from poor white backgrounds being ‘made to feel like they’re a problem’.

I follow R3f0rm as well as the Gr33n P4rty. The could both have jumped on this, only one of them did. I think that suggests why we see a lot more light blue on TV.

How about a Reform UK candidate for the May elections calling for the assassination of the Prime Minister?

Looking like AfD are not getting the support the media, the dodgy polls and of course, the far-right twitter accounts had been telling us would happen.

Sound familiar?

There’s more of us than them.

I remember studying - twenty years ago - how several electoral systems in major Western democracies were deliberately designed to keep the political extremities out of parliament.

For decades there has been a deep European complacency about the rise of the far right.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

The right is spending literally billions on multi-front attacks on privacy and information security of all movement work.
In terms of the willingness of progressive philanthropy to spend to counter it, we’re being asked to put out a wildfire with a garden hose.

Competence. Voters want competent government. Competence can be faked with dress and demeanour, until real stuff starts happening and requires a response.
