Peaceful protest is a fundamental human right. But preparing for encounters with common crowd-control weapons used by law enforcement, like teargas & other chemical irritants, can help protect you and others from the health impacts of these weapons.

ICE operations at immigration courts intensified today. Brief 🧵on what's happening:

- A person facing removal shows up for a hearing.
- At the hearing, ICE unexpectedly asks the immigration judge to dismiss the case without prejudice.
- If the judge says yes, the hearing ends, court is over.

Another report, this one out of Arizona, of people showing up for scheduled immigration court hearings and being detained by federal agents.

They've abandoned any pretense of going after the criminal element first. Now everyone is fair game.
They showed up to immigration court in Phoenix. Then ICE agents surrounded them
"I've never seen action like today ever,” attorney Eugene Delgado said. “This hasn't been the normal practice in Phoenix at all.”

🚨 This bill gets more egregious by the minute. Rules just dropped an amended “Big Beautiful Bill” that includes a provision to pressure health exchange plans to drop abortion services except in the case of rape or the life of the mother, even if federal funds are not used to cover the services.

On Tues, House Democrats will hold a shadow hearing on the impacts of USAID funding cuts. For PHR partners in Ethiopia and DRC, the abrupt aid halt has hindered efforts to combat infectious disease, provide care for sexual violence, and ensure access to justice.

Standing in the Rift Valley last week, the birthplace of humanity, it was impossible not to reflect on the gravity of US funding cuts on humans’ survival. PHR’s clinician partners from Kenya, Ethiopia, and DRC shared firsthand accounts of shuttering of TB programs, GBV care, and vaccination efforts.

The latest effort by TX AG Paxton to use the TX ban to threaten physicians who provide abortion care- this time aimed at drs in states with shield laws.

The confusion + fear are the point, aimed at scaring physicians into denying evidence-based medical care that is legal under their own state laws
Ok shield laws...hold strong! It is important to remember that Dr. Carpenter did nothing illegal. She followed her home state's laws, which allow for telehealth for abortion (so does the FDA, finding it safe & effective). Texas is trying to apply its laws extraterritorially to her.
This is a vehicle for Ken Paxton to challenge shield laws protecting abortion access in blue states.

It's not enough to end abortion in their states, they must end it nationally. We can expect the Trump DOJ to side with Texas.
