Spielberg influencing Zyuranger, there by influencing Mighty Morphin Power Rangers that came out the exact same year as Jurassic Park.

Six Degrees of Big Budget Tokusatsu, kiddies.
This is the 1991 PLEX character art for Zyuranger.

According to producer Takeyuki Suzuki, his decision to use a dino motif was thanks to Spielberg's acquisition of the rights to Jurassic Park in May 1990.

We missed Godzilla Day yesterday, but here’s an exclusive, never-before-seen photo from the set at Studio Toho!

This early design was supposedly due to creator Tomoyuki Tanaka‘s sympathy/solidarity towards Crystal Palace FC being relegated from the Third Division South in the 1953-54 season…

'You're adopted'

(For the non-palaeo folks, this is in light of a newly published paper re-establishing that #Nanotyrannus, previously understood to be a juvenile #T.rex, is indeed its own genus after all.)

Here's a T. Rex bored to death trying to bite their own tail. My partner asked me to animate it in stop motion, after she watched a video about the very important topic of "could T. Rex chew its own tail like a dog". The puppet is still a work in progress 🦖

we have gone from a world in which we were told not to cite wikipedia because it was unreliable to a world where wikipedia might be the only reliable source left on the internet and we all owe a lot to the pedantic nerds who got us there
for all people mock it wikipedia is genuinely one of the wonders of the modern world

Every pundit who took at face value the idea that the Right sincerely cares about free speech, or ideological diversity, or in fact has any principles at all, should be wearing a dunce cap and writing a lengthy mea culpa right now. Not for our catharsis but for public awareness at least

On 1/4/2024 I lost my beloved beaky boy, Cosmo. Soon after, @stickasaurus.bsky.social reached out with the idea to create a new hero design in Cosmo's honor. The community joined together to make it happen.

Here's to you, little buddy. I hope you're out there shattering eardrums among the stars.

One lingering aspect of this LLM stuff, even after it collapses, will be the knowledge that many of my peers don’t make things to enjoy the making, but to enjoy the having made. I just assumed everyone really dug climbing that mountain too. Nothing noble about it, no judgement, just a lesson learned

Writers should internalize Lao Tzu's lesson about how the emptiness at the center of a wheel is what makes it useful, and how a pot is valuable because of where the clay *isn't*. Corporate geek culture has warped us into thinking that negative spaces are flaws that need to be fixed.
Can't stress this enough: nobody fucking cares what he was up to
