On 1/4/2024 I lost my beloved beaky boy, Cosmo. Soon after, @stickasaurus.bsky.social reached out with the idea to create a new hero design in Cosmo's honor. The community joined together to make it happen.

Here's to you, little buddy. I hope you're out there shattering eardrums among the stars.
A beautiful green bird called Cosmo. He was a canarywing parrot. Simple concept drawings of a green tokusatsu hero helmet in the style of Choujin Sentai Jetman. Cosmo's wing colors are reflected in the design. The finished helmet. The final design differs from my sketches thanks to some refinements by concept artist M4Mighty and 3D sculptor 3D Command Center. The finished hero design as a full costume. This Ginkgo tree is a perfect fit for the front of a natural history museum like UNSM! While the modern G. biloba is found in the wild only in China, fossil Ginkgo as old as the Middle Jurassic have been found all over. A close relative, Baiera, is even older, from nearly 300 MYA.

The ceratopsians are famous for their big skulls replete with horns and frills—adaptations which probably drove their evolution from small, modestly-adorned bipeds like Psittacosaurus (depicted wrongly here) to massive quadrupedal beasts like Utahceratops.

It's #FossilFriday and #WorldRhinoDay! The perfect day to show off this peculiar beast,Teleoceras. It's hippo-like proportions have lead some to conclude that it lived mostly in water, but this idea has been challenged by studies of the oxygen isotopes in its fossils.

The fictional Trike in #Ryusoulger reminded me of this fossil skull with an absolutely stupid-big nasal horn. We may never know whether it represents a species of # Triceratops or a new genus, since it's languishing in a private collection and thus can't be studied. #FossilFriday
