Most humanities research — including the best, most world leading research by people we’ve all heard of — is unfunded, by which they mean produced as part of one’s routine job as a university lecturer, just “not funded by a big competitive external grant”.

This would mean the death of research.

RFK’s confusing statement in the FDA’s approval of the Covid vax says everyone at high risk (see list below—it’s long enough that almost anyone could claim to qualify) has access “and all patients who choose them after consulting their doctors.” I will be v interested to see what pharmacies do.
Full tweet FWIW.

I’m not going to repost it here, but Andrew Yang is claiming on social media that a partner at a “prominent” law firm told him AI models are replacing 1st to 3rd year associates in litigation right now, and said this was true in briefing.

That is not true. /1

The reason [besides his utter incompetence and mental decline] that the WH Felon doesn't seem to know what's in his Butt Ugly Bill is because the Project 2025 ghouls wrote the bill all on their own and passed it straight to Maga Mike in the House. We don't even have a president, just a figure head.

I honestly think that the advent of cheating so easy that it could doom us should really be a prybar that opens up a more radical discussion of what education is for in the first place. But I'm not holding my breath.
Dress it up in progressive language but you're cheating yourself by not doing the work. This is the worst thing about AI: millions of students refusing to learn, taking zero interest in the world around them, empty in mind and heart. Your punishment is the person you will become.

Here's what really fucks with me. I live in Texas. It is 6:30PM. I could leave my house with nothing more than a credit card & my phone and be dressed like this and similarly armed to the teeth before sunset. What's to stop ANYONE from doing that but the social contract half the country is ignoring.
Just some creepy armed Mad Max guys trying to gain entry to Dodgers Stadium.

ICE says it wasn’t them. DHS says they were Border Patrol. But honestly who the hell knows? They’ve given permission for any psycho to put on a ski mask, point a gun, grab people & throw them into an unmarked vehicle.

I say without any irony or sarcasm: yes, thank you, we want parliamentary sabotage.

Again, I'm 100% serious. It's one of the few things a minority party can do, and which Republicans themselves did. It's essential.
They wanted to pass this evil budget to take away healthcare from millions earlier today. It’s still stuck in the rules committee cause House Dems introduced over 500 amendments and we are lined up to debate on them. Delaying is important. Keep up the pressure on these Congressional Republicans.
