The situation of #ModernLanguage programmes in the UK continues to worsen.
Cardiff University has recently announced plans to cut 400 members of staff and programmes, including modern languages, nursing and music.

I've been pondering the discrepancy between perceived success and financial precarity as a literary translator. People come up to me and say, "Wow, you're doing so well! You won a big prize! It's wonderful to see you so successful!" At which point I freeze awkwardly. Um, define success? ->
