I truly believe the sight of children riding bikes, in neighbourhoods, terrifies elected municipal representatives.

It really sucks that Western society loves weapons so much that they equate them with strength, safety, and even power. We see it in car culture (“powerful”, “safe” cars) and how we socialize kids with violent video games focused around getting bigger “better” guns to kill people. It’s all the same.
