Passionate, unique take on John Ford by @honorszombie.bsky.social that looks at the films through modern eyes without condescension or moral posturing. Excellent craft analysis. We carry it signed by the author. A steal at $20. mzs.press/SIGNED-But-G...
SIGNED But God Made Him a Poet: Watching John Ford in the 21st Century by Scout Tafoya (Paperback, NEW)
John Ford's reputation today can be summed up perhaps best by a quote from the poster of Orson Welles Citizen Kane. "Some called him a hero...others called him a heel." Welles himself said Ford was on...

Fugazi might be my favorite rock band if push came to shove, but I cant vote for 13 songs as an "album" because it is two EPs just smashed together. Bleach is great and is also an actual album.

You’ll never find a better distillation of how technology and capitalism fit together in the 21st century.
During the height of the pandemic, Tyson used Palantir to predict Covid-19 infections among meatpacking workers down to a nearly exactly figure. But rather than using this data to increase worker protections, Tyson used it plan for labor shortages + plant closures

I simply refuse to accept that police ever have to look like this. this is just pure cosplay. it should be illegal for cops to be dressed like soldiers going to war.

The way Chicagoans have been responding to ICE invading their cities is a massive advertisement FOR Chicago, an amazing city full of incredible humans.

May we all live somewhere full of neighbors who care about us this much.
Yesterday, when Bovino announced ICE would be returning to Little Village today, some of us donated and fundraised to buy out street vendors in the neighborhood. This morning, volunteers hit the streets at 6:30 am, looking for vendors to buy out. Tamales make an excellent breakfast.

Fast food giants, you want people to come? Retro Stores! We splash around a few locations that are build like how they used to! 80s Pizza Hut down to the red cups! 90s Taco Bell in its bright color glory! McDonalds doesn't feel like a hotel lobby. Wendy's sun room! We call them restaurants again.

Maybe they should go back to making better food.
The Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich used to be beautiful, and now it is an abomination.
