instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

Took in a matinee of Predator: Badlands yesterday. It’s the most 21st Century film yet. Succeeded in both utilizing and reinvigorating Predator tropes and just delivered. Good dumb fun that doesn’t make you feel dumb for watching it.

Me: Trying to teach my kids about win-win options, the need to avoid zero-sum traps and wisdom to see the difference.
Congress: Currently experimenting with not just negative sum outcomes, but multiplicative and exponentially negative outcomes. Loses designed to set us back decades.

Tappin' the sign, sadly.
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

Road my bike 52 miles today, a bit worn out but satisfied with both the exertion and the journey. Last six weeks have been a grind, so getting outside and finding some joy was necessary and wonderful.

Understanding the right is good, this essay goes places, might not resolve because he knows he’s cookin’ but is worthwhile to understand.
I've noticed that there isn't much talk here about the current internecine war that is unfolding on the right, spearheaded in large part by Nick Fuentes, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I know this shit is insane and feels bad. But this is a mistake (1/)

It would probably be cursed to have more people play factorio, but the game does a pretty good job of laying out the pitfalls and promise of carbon, nuclear and solar energy in play. Just imagine the bugs are climate risks and you begin to understand quickly.
