When that communist asshole tried to have me swatted, I started working on videos about communist tyranny. But I am putting those on ice for now. I have several thousand Hungarian viewers. If I can move just a few dozen to vote against Orban, I would consider that far more important and rewarding.

I think he just really really really really really wants to avoid any and all conflict. Can you imagine what it must be like to suddenly rule the country that has been ravaged and destroyed by an almost 2 decades long war that killed hundreds of thousands?

This may be a stretch. But... I think Zelensky has played a big role in Europe going against the trend of a global rise of antisemitism. He is currently the most famous and popular Jew in Europe. And I think his presence in our politics as a heroic figure has helped in confronting antisemitism.

Speaking of which, the latest Russian propaganda op is to post videos from Israeli cities and claim the videos are from a "Zionist occupied Ukraine".

There is also the genuine outrage in Europe that the Russians dared to bring back a horror of the 20th century.
Perhaps the mere fact that he is Jewish and leading a nation valiantly fighting for its survival is enough. A nation that happened to have suffered some of the worst atrocities of the Holocaust and is now seeing fresh atrocities committed on its land.

It is weird that we memorialised the fall of the Berlin Wall as the defining moment of the end of communist tyranny in Europe. The first to end communism were the Estonians in November 1988, the last were the Romanians in December 1989. Germany was a late comer.

I am sure Ireland can set up its own defense industry. It may take them a decade or two. But with all that amazon and facebook tax haven money, I am sure they can find enough to make those investments. Who knows what the Irish version of the Gripen will be a few decades down the road.

I stopped trying to understand the American left after Oct 7, when they started attacking Kamala Harris as a genocide supporter for acknowledging the mass rape.

A large segment of the American left has this weird "main evil character syndrome" where they think everything bad in the world happens because of them, and everyone who opposes them is automatically good. It's like a weird inverted masochistic nationalism.
I am utterly puzzled as to how he could come to a conclusion that Trump and Netunyahu are behind this guy

I wish the media had done a better job reporting on the Russian meatwave attacks. Even showing some of the horrible footage to the public might be warranted. They are a perfect illustration of the depraved inhumanity of the Russian military. One that doesn't even value the lives of its own soldiers.

We have footage of several incidents, where Russian soldiers fleeing back to Russian lines after failed meatwave assaults, are shot by their own officers.
When you realize that the Russians could actually reach your level of losses and meatwave tactics:

I don't buy the "woke academia" narrative. The political bent really depends on where and what you study. Law schools tend to be conservative. Lots of Marxists in Anthropology. Political Science is dominated by liberals. Nobody should be surprised gender studies is full of critical theorists.
Is there any truth that communist infest collages, I’m from Texas and we definitely had some but also a lot of folks want to talk about Jesus.

Look at the industrialisation of China. That is one of the single most dramatic and radical transformations of a society in human history. And we had the privilege of witnessing it within our lifetime.
Meiji Japan is an even more whiplash inducing example of rapid industrialization, and it was a somewhat Liberal constitution that unleashed it.

Miland Kundera and Leszek Kolakowski were the two Eastern Block dissidents who compared McCarthyism with Stalinism. Kundera indirectly. Kolakowski directly as part of his philosophical analysis of totalitarianism, in which he argued that Calvinist zeal could morph into an American totalitarianism.

I think we can also blame Solzhenitsyn for the widespread myth that anti-communist dissidents were all far-right. He was the single most far-right of all the dissidents. American conservatives promoted him unconditionally, while overlooking his horrible beliefs and flirtations with antisemitism.
Sorry, it's a sore spot! It is a trope, which has been used to suppress dissent against communism in Eastern Europe like for many decades and by Russians and western leftists against Ukraine right now etc etc.

Most anti-communist dissidents against were not far-right. Several even compared McCarthyism to Stalinist witch hunts. Most Czechoslovak dissidents were Liberals. Most Polish dissidents were catholic conservatives. The Hungarian dissident movement was for a while dominated by anti-Soviet Marxists.
I worry the future anti-communist academics might be far-right. The most prominent people who label themselves "Anti-communist" in America are usually MAGA supporters.
