@minnmax.com I’m in the midst of having my home remediated of mold and had to spend a lot of Christmas moving stuff out so they can do a deep clean this weekend. Thanks for this week’s podcast; you all were very good company.

How much are you going to pay doctors?

Which current hospitals get shut down ?

What happens if doctors opt out of the system ? Who is going to invest in new curative therapies. You ?

How much in taxes pr year do you think it's possible to collect if you took every penny from billionaires?
Half the amount that everyone currently pays could provide universal healthcare. Private health companies don’t need to exist. Eliminate them. And use your collective buying power and economies of scale to get it done. Every cent of their profit is healthcare denied.

Based on all his past punditry, MattY concludes from this that (even though the graph doesn’t take age into account so his whole theory could be misguided) Democratic politicians should come out forcefully in favor of childhood spanking.
As a white college educated Democrat, I think we are correct about this and the majority is wrong.

But it’s a reminder that I live in a bit of a bubble (and met most of you on here are in it with me) in terms of people’s views on things.

@agoldman.bsky.social I also enjoy you on Bluesky and podcasts when you're in nihilist mode, but it makes me happy listening to Hyperfixed and seeing how making the show helps you see the good in people/the world.

How about you just regulate them
Children are being exploited and abused because Big Tech consistently prioritizes profits over people.

Enough is enough. Time to sunset Section 230.

lol they couldn’t even figure out an illegal way to send everyone 2k like Trump wanted. Not sure who he thinks he’s winning over here, this will just annoy lot of people not getting checks

Sure is strange how this standard is applied far more often to people of color than poor white people who vote for Trump. Especially given the overwhelming choice of people who didn’t want to vote for Harris was just not to vote.

People just voted across multiple states, in droves, for Dems who’ll fight for something.

_If_ Senate mods follow that showing by opting to fold for nothing … I do not think they will expect the backlash they touch off.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

A thing you're not seeing if you haven't checked Twitter in the last week is all the political betting markets (Polymarket, Kalshi) are actively caping for Cuomo and spreading Zohran conspiracies on there. Usually this would be a cause for some sort of regulatory oversight but that no longer exists.

Ezra Klein is so fucking stupid.
I will never understand the pundit obsession with getting Democrats to solve "political division."

Not only is this what they're already doing, but Klein admits that Republicans will never do the same. So elections will remain constant GOP smears and simping Democratic promises of bipartisanship.
