The agency last week approved the use of two new pesticides that qualify as PFAS. Farmers could spread them on crops such as romaine lettuce, broccoli and potatoes.

I’d sort of forgotten about them, but those MAGA/troll blocks lists that people put together a couple of years ago appear to have completely shielded me from this influx of shit bags that’s apparently underway. Whatever faults this place has, that feature was undeniably good.
The reason they're coming after this place is because they can't control the people on it and it drives them nuts.

The Dahlia, a birth flower for those born in #October, symbolises dignity and elegance in the language of flowers. Folklore says dreaming of colourful Dahlias brings good fortune, while in folk magic they are charms for spiritual growth and evolution. Happy new month! #October1st

"Harvard can't use race as a factor in admissions, but ICE can use race as a factor in detentions" is a retrenchment essentially to a pre-Civil War understanding of the Constitution. It's vanishingly few steps removed from "Latinos have no rights which the white man is bound to respect."

For decades, scientists believed Prochlorococcus, the most abundant phytoplankton on Earth, would thrive in a warmer world. But new research suggests the bacterium, which forms the foundation of the marine food web and helps regulate the planet’s climate, will decline sharply as seas heat up.

This isn’t bad luck or coincidence or predestination.

This is our choice. To live in a nation where our leaders teach hate, and military style guns are everywhere.

There’s plenty of disinformation trying to blame the nascent offshore wind industry for whale deaths without evidence. Not only is that misleading, it also takes the focus away from solutions that might actually address the leading causes of death — vessel strikes and entanglement with fishing gear.
Whales are dying, but it’s not because of wind farms
Investigating a whale beaching is grueling work, and scientists see the same culprit again and again.

Dearest Martha,

The National Guard stand solemn watch at the Krispy Kreme tonight. I cannot tell if they defend the people from the donuts, or the donuts from the people. Powdered sugar hangs in the air like cannon smoke. Jensen took a hot coffee to the face, he may never recover.

Yours in glaze,

American is a service-based economy: Let's take a look at job growth in private sector goods and services over the past 75 years. Spoiler: it's almost all in services. We are not going to even make a dent in this trend. In fact, we may push it further.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Secretary Rubio says USAID didn’t serve US interests. It not only stopped diseases before they spread, but kept fragile countries from collapsing and provided reasons to trust the US instead of China. That’s not charity, that’s strategy. He just doesn’t get it.

The GOP so fg stupid they make a policy of it
Senate Republicans have quietly inserted provisions in President Trump’s domestic policy bill that would not only end federal support for wind and solar energy but would impose an entirely new tax on future projects, a move that industry groups say could devastate the renewable power industry.
G.O.P. Bill Adds Surprise Tax That Could Cripple Wind and Solar Power
Wind and solar companies were already bracing for Congress to end federal subsidies. But the Senate bill goes even further and penalizes those industries.
