I missed it before but Jill Ellis also filed a declaration for her defamation lawsuit. The most interesting part to me is this email from Bill Ordower (NWSL executive vp and chief legal officer). The redaction is mine - it isn't in the court filing.

i don't think this is even a real statistical anomaly anymore. it seems like there's someone in the crowd at every mass shooting who has been through it before. this doesn't have to be our shared cultural experience.

This will keep the Rodmans of the league stateside but it shows the majority of players in the league that ownership doesn't want to pay them a penny more.

The NWSL could be taking a good step forward next week if the proposed High Impact Player mechanism is approved. It's a new tool in the league's desire to stay competitive... but it can't be the only answer.

New from me:

The Trinity Rodman Rule will be a step forward, but it won't be enough.
The NWSL Board of Governors is voting on a new roster mechanism next week that could boost the league's ability to hang onto star players... but it's just a start.

With all due respect, any chef who hawks teflon is not someone you should listen to for *any* culinary advice.

PFAS is poison that also happens to be terrible to cook on
Celebrity chefs told Californians that PFAS-coated pans were “safe,” and successfully lobbied Gavin Newsom to veto a bill phasing them out

They didn’t mention they all sell PFAS-coated pans.

New joint investigation with @mirandagreen.bsky.social and @atmosmag.bsky.social is out:
Why are famous chefs fighting PFAS bans?
The answer, in retrospect, is obvious—and it’s part of a larger campaign to stop bans on Teflon cookware nationwide.

the nonstick pan conversation is one of those times when I feel like I grew up on a commune away from civilization.

I grew up on stainless steel. I've owned one nonstick pan ever, it lasted about a year (the average life of a nonstick pan) and I was like well that doesn't seem very long
