To be 100% clear:
Parents do NOT have "legitimate concerns" about trans girls on sports teams.

They have knee-jerk assumptions, made up of sexist stereotypes, that self-serving politicians and media-types have fanned into a groundless moral panic.

Trans girls playing sports hurts no one.
Buttigieg said parents have legitimate concerns.

To be clear: If you cannot be relied on to unequivocally defend transgender kids, you can’t be relied on to defend anyone or anything.

A statistic in honor of tomorrow's rent control hearing on Beacon Hill:

A minimum-wage worker would need to work 101 hours a week to afford a modest one-bedroom apartment at fair-market rent

I was talking with a teenager recently who is not a transphobe but said he didn’t think it was fair for trans women to play women’s sports . I said that I didn’t think it was fair that people who are taller than me get to play basketball and he paused for a moment and then said, ok you’re right.

This claim is ridiculous, and New Yorkers aren’t falling for it.

I think that the fascists have a different political project and that they do not have to actually deliver anything except cruelty against the out groups. Trump is authentically cruel and crass. People like that because they believe him on those things.
it's amazing the amount of time and effort Democrats spend painstakingly critiquing their messaging while Trump just fires from the hip while his brain leaks out of his ears and it's good enough for 312 electoral votes and winning control of the entire federal government

All those data stealing apps? There used to be free websites with that information.

Now people are making "content" that they don't enjoy making because social media will bury them otherwise. Creatives are getting burnt out churning out soulless garbage designed to go viral.

This stuff is all awful, but far & away the most important capitulation to date is the total Article I failure/crisis. Congress has done nothing as a runaway Mad King has stolen its power of the purse & closed down entire portions of the government it created by law. All of 👇 is secondary to that.
o3's ranking of the most important capitulations to date:
1. SC immunity decision
2. Jack Smith drops Trump cases
3. Preemptive resignations: Wray (FBI), Barr (Fed vice chair), Santos (Census)
4. Columbia settlement
5. Harvard concessions
6. Law firm deals

Who will be next?
Not even seven months - six. After 186 days, one of America's leading universities and two of its most prestigious news outlets have already capitulated. And Trump's henchmen are just starting to wield the full powers of the federal government.

Every. Single. Story. about women not using AI as much as men portray it as bad for their future career prospects (without a shred of evidence) and a result of women being fearful little ladies rather than looking at AI's output and saying "this sucks, it's not going to help me."
For women, the increase of AI use in the workplace may affect their careers: Harvard study
Women are using AI significantly less then men and it’s going to have a major impact on their careers, according to extensive research on the topic.

Unbelievably tragic & heartbreaking

And, of course, they publicly congratulated themselves on a great, lifesaving police response when they’d let a lawmaker bleed out. Uvalde is everywhere
New details about police activity after lawmaker shootings raise questions about response
The Minnesota Star Tribune found that Brooklyn Park police waited more than 60 minutes to enter the Hortman home and that several law enforcement agencies were unaware of the situation for hours.

The night of the 2024 election, the clearest thought I had was “None of us, including the people who voted for him, deserves what’s about to happen.” I still believe that.
or like

i dunno if someone has a different view of the world and how to deal with society’s problems

even if i deem some of their views immoral, i can’t “break ties” with those people anymore

i kind of just don’t have it in me

because it feels so … exclusionary. it feels like being a cop

incredibly funny to try to claim that mamdani is inserting activist language about freedom into his Passover messages when the entire holiday is about freedom
This is some of the weakest shit I've ever seen. Why is it a scandal that he "affirmed his opposition to antisemitism—but only while also condemning Islamophobia"?

Many ancient homes all over the world had no private kitchens/food prep spaces, period! Especially if you were poor!

This is why the discovery of a largely-intact "fast food" shopfront in Pompeii was such a huge deal, a few years ago. These places rarely survive the passage of time.
