@caitlindurante.bsky.social @jamieloftus.bsky.social on "Always Be My Maybe" I think y'all might be missing some Asian-American context for things like the significance of paying full price, sexism in the flip flop gift, and the emotional distance in Ali Wong's parents. Old episode, sorry!

This. Either we push the moderates / centrists out of leadership, or leave the party to rot in ineffective obscurity.
Time to go! ⌚

“Schumer should step down immediately. If he secretly backed this surrender and voted 'no', he’s a liar. If he couldn’t keep his caucus in line, he's inept. Either way, we can’t afford his failed leadership any longer.” - Our Revolution

DSA stands in absolute opposition to the proposed deal to pass Trump's billionaire budget. Healthcare is a right, not a bargaining chip.

They have to know they're being lied to. Given they're not up for reelection, is it just fatigue?
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can just give up and go home.

Really doing wonders for that approval polling rn. Better pay some consultants to tell you to keep doing exactly the same thing.

Re the caving of Schumer and the Dems: we (leftists) need to stop voting them in. It's no longer enough to not be Trump. We need leaders committed to long term reform for democracy and Ds are fundamentally a status quo party. We need a DSA + Greens party. The tent is too big.

Sanders: That is a totally meaningless gesture. You can get 100 votes here and it won't mean anything because the House is not going to take it up.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

yeah everyone who’s in my mentions telling me schumer’s against this needs to understand what’s really going on. this is his caucus. he literally has one job — and he’s failing.
Schumer: "I must vote no. I can not, in good faith, support this CR. ... Make no mistake about it, the American people know who is inflicting this pain on them."

He stops short of urging his colleagues to vote "no."

After the 2016 election, I wrote this, about how Chuck Schumer was the worst possible Democratic leader at the worst possible time. He still is! theintercept.com/2016/11/14/c...
Chuck Schumer: The Worst Possible Democratic Leader at the Worst Possible Time
The soon-to-be top elected Democrat might as well have been grown in a lab to be exactly the wrong face for opposition to Donald Trump.
