If you’re celebrating the mass deportations of distraught, exhausted human beings seeking refuge, you probably shouldn’t be singing sweet songs about a baby with “no crib for a bed.”

Elon Musk and the Trump administration gleefully shutting down USAID “has already caused the deaths of six hundred thousand people, two-thirds of them children.”

People throw around terms like genocide quite freely online but it’s hard to find other words to describe this level of man-made death.

In DC, the cowardice of Senate Democrats has undermined it, again

The destruction of the East Wing really bums me out in a way that I wasn't expecting.

I guess some of it is about the destruction of history. But I think it's mostly about the feeling of helplessness. There's nothing we can do to stop him.

Nobody is coming to save us. And it's going to get worse.

A pre-dog-walk 🧵 on the pandemic.

To me, the lesson of the pandemic is a very familiar one, although as far as I can tell, no one is talking about it or learning it (which is also familiar). It's about the contrast between America's two political parties.

Obama tried to throw Fox News out of the WH press pool (for being obvious partisan assholes) and the NYT rallied to their defense.

When Trump did the same thing to the AP (for refusing to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico!) the NYT did nothing at all.
