The narrative from Gavin Newsom needs to be, point blank: California is not asking the country to bail it out. California, which is the greatest contributor in federal tax dollars and greatest subsidizer of the nation is asking for it's money back. Otherwise, Californians shouldn't pay federal tax.

I’ve lived in LA since 88, quakes, fires, floods, riots, auditions. It’s an extreme place, but the good makes up for the bad. Never been a disaster like this. Never saw wind or fire like this. It’s not over Sorry Kentucky Tennessee and Alabama were gonna need our taxes for a while. You’ll be fine.
