The Olivia Nuzzi story and the Bari Weiss at CBS story are the same story, which is that the upper echelons of legacy media are absolutely rife with people who worship power and don't feel burdened by any sense of responsibility to their profession or the public.

There are plenty of obvious reasons to do this: Nobody under the age of 30 actually uses the site! You're rewarding Elon Musk!

But the most important thing is that some politicians and consultants are stewing in bot-driven, expensive Nazi propaganda, and it's giving them really bad, cruel ideas.
This has always been a Bluesky-first campaign. But as of today, we will no longer be using Twitter. At all.

And I'm calling on other candidates to follow suit.

I don’t care that I’m not at all religious, and that the story behind it is apocryphal, and that it’s pretty corny when you think about it; an audience full of people all standing up for the Hallelujah Chorus never fails to move me deeply.

Parisot (the Director) tells a story about how Tim Allen just started crying after a scene one day

"I don't like these feelings i'm having." Says Tim. "I'm going back to my trailor" and walks off.

There's silence for a second.

"Oh my god." Says Rickman. "I think Tim just experienced acting."
Galaxy Quest - a perfect movie, just a wonderful love letter to actors, sci-fi, Star Trek in particular, and to fandom - really deserves a proper physical release with decent extras. Think Weaver's right that releasing a R-rated cut would be fun, too.
Sigourney Weaver Says She Wishes DreamWorks Released A Director’s Cut Of ‘Galaxy Quest,’ Reminisces On Sequel That Never Came To Pass
Sigourney Weaver reflected on cult classic Galaxy Quest and how she wishes the sci-fi satire had released an R-rated director's cut.

Now seems like a swell time to point out that Frontline just released this excellent 11-minute mini-documentary about what happened inside CECOT.

Easily the worst part of baking bread is that it really does require a, like, substantial amount of cooling-down time to preserve volume, so you have to exist beside this delicious-smelling fresh loaf for a very long time, unable to eat it or even see how the crumb turned out.

The final paragraph of this statement is FASCINATING.

Dem leadership is clearly trying to imply, in pretty strong terms, that they'll launch an aggressive, vigorous, public impeachment effort if they take back control of the House. But without actually, you know, saying that.

Drip. Drip. Drip.
Significant statement from Jeffries and House Democratic leaders saying they will vote “present” on the motion to table Al Green’s resolution to impeach President Trump. They say they’re “laser-focused on fighting to lower the high cost of living” plus on health care and corruption.

Or **and hear me out**, we could do the boring, normal thing where we tax rich people and fund public programs that help everyone.

Infinitely preferable to outsourcing social policy to whichever billionaire feels whimsical this week.

Separately we should continue to criticize a government that forces private charities to finance the social safety net and puts those orgs’ fates in the hands of relatively few wealthy donors who may or may not be doing tax stuff.

I have no opinion on Mackenzie Scott. This is a general critique.
My career’s first act was as a grant writer and fundraiser and I WILL DIE ON THE HILL OF “if you really want your dollars to help, make your donations unrestricted”

Remember, by law the dollars have to go to the mission! Maybe trust the experts to know how best to use (and scale) those dollars?

Why it matters

1987 printers were, apparently, absolute garbage.
In 1987 Family Computing magazine asked “computer-using celebrities” what they wanted for Christmas. Julia Child wanted a potion that taught her MS-DOS. Steve Wozniak would like a girlfriend. Robin Williams said he’d “like to be able to jack in directly.” And Todd Rundgren needed a laser printer.
