The difference between fanfiction and AI is that fanfiction is a labor of craft and love by amateur writers that explicitly does not attempt to profit off the art.
AI slop exists for the singular purpose of generating capital without paid labor.

The abusive relationship parallels to the current political milieu continue to be striking—good thread below. I’ll also add that fact-checking or trying to explain in these situations does NOT shift their narrative. They’re targeting you because they want to do so, NOT because they misunderstand.
I feel like anyone who has dealt with abusers know this: at a certain point, you need to build an impenetrable barrier between your inner world & what they say about you. The more wrapped up you get in their version of events, how they’ve twisted the narrative, etc., the more energy they suck away.

Ezra Klein is trying in this column to argue that Kirk was doing politics correctly if you just ignore the content of what he was advocating. That he was contributing to American democracy by arguing civilly for the subjugation of women, gay people, trans people. It simply doesn’t work.
I feel like I am taking crazy pills. Charlie Kirk’s ultimate goal, which he said time and time again, would have been the suppression, through threat of violence and the use of state power, of the rights of those he disagreed with, including freedom of expression.
