That was the compromise going forward, circa 1960. That the Disney studio could still make animated features, but they'd have to cost less and be done faster. Roy Disney and the business side of the enterprise seemed to see little need for new animated films, when the old ones could be re-issued.

the reason 101 dalmations looks like that is because disney incorporated xerography (ie early photocopying technology) into the animation process. rough pencils (by mostly male animators) were copied onto the cels so that disney could fire the (mostly female) inkers. remember that art can lie to you

I'm going to try to host an Animalympics watch party similar to the Puss in Boots Last Wish one this year as I saw it for the first time in February and loved it 😊 I found a Region 2 DVD of it after a long search, so I'll see if I can submit my idea to the Confuzzled staff over the next few days 😀

It's clever how the show conveys this musically as well as visually. He reprises 'Don't You Forget' and totally yoinks Lucifer's 'VOX POPULI' melody for 'VOX DEI'.
