This is really something to read. Most of this has been clear from the start, it's just that the guardrails have collapsed.
Guys, Trump said this in November of *2015*.

If you read my Salon piece about The 'F' Word" from that month you will see that many *Republicans* were calling Trump out as a fascist. It's been obvious from the beginning. (And I don't want to hear about guardrails. They were made of jello.)

let's take stock here:

(Democratic) Presidents, via the Dept of Education, can't cancel student debt because statutes don't clearly authorize it.

Republican Presidents can cancel/shut down the Dept of Education because, even though only Congress can shut down departments ..., ... 🤷‍♀️ YOLO?
BREAKING: The Supreme Court allows the Trump administration to move forward with the abolition of the Department of Education. It gives no explanation for its order. All three liberals dissent. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

At the time, I concluded this was likely NOT a "slip-up."

Right wingers do this ALL THE TIME (just ask people like @noupside.bsky.social & @ninajankowicz.com, or 51 former spooks).

And, as @gregsargent.bsky.social noted, they DID redact the name of the cop prosecuted for misconduct subsequently.

In 1846, a doctor proved handwashing could save lives.

He was mocked by the medical establishment, lost his job, and was eventually committed to an asylum. Shortly after, he was beaten to death by attendants while trying to escape.

In some ways, medicine is still kind of like this. See why:
Trump’s cronies aren’t what broke public health

In Chicago, a U.S. citizen was arrested, handcuffed, and spent most of the night at an ICE processing center.

After buying pizza, he says, ICE agents "handcuffed me and pushed me into a white van where other people were handcuffed as well.”

Other people arrested are still detained.

This comes after Trump's DOJ dropped bribery charges against Eric Adams and suspended enforcement of a foreign anti-bribery law.

I appreciate Josh's elevation of the term "anti-constitutional," which is different from "unconstitutional." Deciding not to spend appropriations because you don't feel like it isn't some outré theory of the Constitution. It's just an assertion of power, a rejection of constitutionalism altogether.
I'll just repeat what I said yesterday: This is wildly illegal and anti-constitutional.

This will hurt our farmers, halt critical research, and impact students throughout Maine.
