Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

What does the Minister of Favours have to hide?

At a time when 800,000 Ontarians are out of work, Ford's Minister is backing the wrong horse.

Dearest Martha

Deepest apologies for my delay in penning this missive. We have been very busy at the front these days. Winning Portland has proven more of a challenge than we presumed. There are battalions of baristas and craft brewers attempting to thwart our efforts to make everyone stop voting.

The Times, Post, CNN, and Politico all ran stories this weekend or this morning about Trump getting his base back behind him on Epstein. The most prominent source cited to justify this claim _in all four publications_ was Steve Bannon. slate.com/news-and-pol...

Corporate naming of transit stations is dumb.

Even more so when the corporation in question is another public entity. So the government is essentially paying itself to confuse the public.

Canadians using Twitter/X are being bombarded by misleading right-wing posts designed to boost Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre and tarnish the reputation of Mark Carney.

The FT’s analysis finds a growing volume of that misinformation is coming not from Russia or China, but the United States.

Example of a Mark Carney fact check: he called car manufacturing Canada's 2nd-leading export when it's really the 3rd-leading export.

Example of a Poilievre fact check: he blatantly mischaracterizes the impact of a federal law on project approvals.

"Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has a playbook. Step one: Induce fear by suggesting that crime is at historic highs. Step two: Blame the Liberals. Step three: Promise solutions that ignore what the law already does."
Opinion: Separating rhetoric from reality in the Conservative crime platform
Pierre Poilievre’s tough-on-crime proposals are performative at best, and will cause greater difficulty for the prison system at worst

This is one version of what Poilievre wants more of if he is Prime Minister: unhinged pretend media harassing actual media. Except in Pierre’s vision, the CBC doesn’t exist.

Why is any media outlet calling these "reciprocal tariffs"? Trump's premise that these countries apply tariffs in the first place is a product of his deranged imagination.

For those of you who just tuned in, the CEO of Shopify, suggests "bad faith" because the Government of Canada is using 'Special Warrants' during an election campaign. His many followers on X/Twitter will assume the worst.

The use of special warrants is perfectly normal. ⬇️
Unless I am missing something here, there's nothing unusual about the use of special warrants to fund the normal operations of government when Parliament is dissolved (contra "Canada Spends," Parliament is not prorogued).
