A U.S. citizen on their way to work abducted by ICE then locked in a basement, with federal government employees refusing to consider indisputable proof of citizenship.

Congress endorses it. SCOTUS keeps thwarting judges from even slowing it.

What more is there to say? We live under fascism now.
I spoke to employers who were seeking to help employees abducted by ICE - including one boss seeking freedom for a U.S. citizen staffer who was arrested in the space between their uber and the front door of their workplace.

Their boss had their U.S. passport in hand, pleading for their release.

Guidance seems to change daily, and sometimes staff find out that grants have been cut at the same time as PIs. This isn't a good way to run a *business*, let alone a complicated funding entity meant to improve human health and wellbeing.
Exclusive: NIH documents reveal inconsistencies in grant terminations as agency reviews 3200 more
Evidence of agency’s uneven guidance to employees and role of DOGE could play into legal case against cuts

“MOSAIC awardees were chosen using a definition of diversity beyond race, gender, and disability. It includes those who grew up in poor households or rural areas or were raised by parents who do not have college degrees.” 🧪

Funding for the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) has just been cut. This study has made some landmark discoveries, including uncovering the risks of hormone replacement therapy on cardiovascular health. It was initiated 30 years ago, because there was little research on women’s health.

In 2015, I graduated college with a degree in psychology and I wanted to conduct research to reduce health disparities. First, I needed more research experience if I wanted to

The NIH study section I'm serving on for student/postdoc fellowships has been rescheduled for late April (good). But the diversity fellowship apps have been eliminated from the review list (very bad). Extremely frustrating that they couldn't even be reclassified as standard fellowship apps.

Amazing thread!
It's the constant fear, anxiety, and doubt. It's a tidal wave that we face daily. Sometimes things look a little better (some study sections, but not councils, have been scheduled), but most days they just look worse and worse.

I think people need to hear and understand that.
