I'm really asking everyone to please stop using Alligator Alcatraz. This is not a descriptor that makes sense. These are concentration camps.

Last thing I’m saying about this: way more annoying that U.S. commentariat still don’t know the differences between race, ethnicity, and nationality or how to talk about them w/ nuance, than that any mixed culture immigrant kids fumbles to check one of this country’s imprecise made up boxes.

The idea that the hundreds of thousands of Muslim, Southeast Asian, Indian, Arab, Iranian, etc New Yorkers deserve influence in their city government has either ignored or treated with active disdain throughout this entire discourse.
Lander: "We're not going to resolve how people feel about the conflict between Is. and Pal, but ... we'll have a mayor who's going to keep everyone safe, who will listen to Jews. But we also want to make sure we're listening to Muslim NYers, Iranian NYers—it is an incredibly diverse city."

We're back, caught between so-called feminists dreaming of miniskirts in Tehran and politicians promising to bomb Iranian women into freedom, writes Nadeine Asbali 👇
How Western feminism liberates Iranian women, one bomb at a time
From miniskirts to missiles, white feminism’s colonial fantasy of liberating Iranian women by force returns with US-Israeli strikes, writes Nadeine Asbali.

Like I said, it's GOOD that a large number of people say that don't want to go to war with Iran. I wish people wouldn't psych themselves out. I was alive when USians were RABID in support of going to war as Vicky points out below. It was DREADFUL.

Anti-ICE organizing in New York City:

People who showed up to the federal immigration building, referred to as just ‘26 Federal Plaza’ or ‘FP’ to protest & stop ICE from transferring people they arrested, were blocked by NYPD at numerous intervals for low level infractions.

see also: the belief in this thing called a “peaceful protestor” that, if facing arrest or violence from police, anyone can prove they are
the last few days has been a reminder that people really want to believe that not only is there this real thing called a “criminal,” and that if they need to, anyone can just prove they aren’t one
do people not realize that the past four decades of US policing legislation PR and practice have made the allegation that someone is a “gang member” entirely subject to the whims of the state

BREAKING: Police just surrounded Rev. William Barber, prominent activist and pastor, as he and others prayed in the U.S. Capitol Rontunda.

Police then expelled everyone (including press!) from the Rotunda to (presumably) arrest them.

I've covered protests here a lot. Never seen anything like it.
