There was also a 71% drop in air pollution.

Elon Musk openly called for violence on our streets yesterday.

I hope politicians from all parties come together to condemn his deeply dangerous and irresponsible rhetoric.

Britain must stand united against this clear attempt to undermine our democracy.

People are tired of a status quo that isn’t working for them.

Zohran Mamdani’s campaign has sent shockwaves across the country and shown what’s possible when candidates have the courage to stay true to their values and speak authentically to working people.
Mamdani: Tonight, we made history. In the words of Nelson Mandela, it almost seems impossible until it is done. My friends, we have done it. I will be your Democratic nominee for the mayor of New York City.

Congratulations to all involved! Together with our European friends and allies is the best way to secure the safe, prosperous and thriving Gibraltar we all want to see.
I welcome the conclusion of the talks on the future EU-UK agreement on Gibraltar.

It safeguards the integrity of Schengen and the Single Market, while ensuring stability, legal certainty and prosperity for the region.

Congratulations Maroš Šefčovič on successful negotiations.

Trump’s behind-closed doors talks with Putin threaten Ukraine’s freedom and Europe’s security.

If the US won’t lead, the UK must.

Realising that I've brought a lot of counterproductive Twitter-isms with me to this platform. Describing things as 'deranged' was a good way to get attention but I'd rather not contribute to bringing BlueSky discourse down the gutter too.

This is the energy Europe needs to project. As always it's those with the most to lose who are actually willing to make the hard choices, while the privileged cower from actually standing for something.
The Baltic states Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have today fully decoupled their energy grid from Russia. At the moment they are running in an island mode, but starting tomorrow the energy grid will be reconnected with the European Union.

Beautiful irony. The same reporters who detested Biden's PR team for 'talking down to them' are now gonna be replaced by prank YouTubers and podcast bros.

I will never stop being mad about how the media has treated the anti-trans movement as a group of ordinary people with legitimate concerns rather than the obvious frothing bigots they are.
ABC White House correspondent just released ANOTHER anti-trans EO expected that we did not cover in our piece this morning:

A federal ban on funding to programs that acknowledge and affirm transgender people.

As a party trying to get more people engaged in politics, we have no choice but to keep focusing on established social media platforms (TikTok, Meta).

But it's grim that we have no alternative but to support the platforms whose values totally clash with our own.

Unfortunately it's turned out that social media platforms have never been public spaces. It's great for acquisition and compliance for them to pretend otherwise, but when push comes to shove we're just cogs that exist at their whims.

It's never been about sports. Just like every other bandwagon reactionaries hop on. Sports are an opportunity for people to belong, to find some joy, and to take pride in themselves.

Sports, especially for children, are no place for division and conspiracy theories about biology.

This is certainly the part of politics I've struggled with most too.

Many of us get into politics out of a love for public policy. But unfortunately for us, politicians are far more likely to be judged by how they navigate culture wars than how they implement actual change.
And Biden's admin, like essentially all Democrats and liberals in my lifetime, totally neglected this aspect of politics. They ignored clear warning signs that something was going wrong in the social atmosphere: deep unpopularity among young people, extreme dissatisfaction with the strong economy.

I do wonder whether we'll one day look back on Biden as the last 'realistic' president.

Harris faced a lot of hurdles, but a surprising one she didn't face was her campaigning as if presidents can magically change the price of groceries.
Here's the actual, correct summary of Biden's domestic presidency:

He entered office with very narrow legislative margins, made worse by the fact that two of his key votes were deeply intransigent. Nonetheless he was able to consistently pass sweeping legislation.
