This is a genuine question:

At that moment, a reporter says something like, "That's a lie! Why do you continue to lie to the American people?"'

Other than generating viral posts and driving the news cycle for a few hours, what do you think would then happen?
This the core problem with the White House Press Corps encapsulated: Karoline Leavitt just lied right to your face, you know she's incorrect, and you just move on to your next topic.

It matters that she's wrong and/or lying about it! Stay there!
Q: You acknowledged that CPI in January was 3%. In September, the last month we have data, it was also 3%

LEAVITT: It's 2.5%

Q: Not in September. It was 3%

LEAVITT: I have it in front of me

So not only were we busy telling the world what we were doing on insecure Signal chats, we were shooting down our own people at the same time. It has costs to put incompetent people in charge of national security, and I fear we are just beginning to pay them.

A Navy warship mistook US fighter jets for enemy missiles and opened fire. The targeted pilot saw his life flash before his eyes.
New documents reveal how the USS Gettysburg shot down an F/A-18 and nearly hit a second one above the Red Sea last year.

Tucker Carlson has hosted Hitler apologists on his show. Now he says Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor who tried to kill Hitler, was not being Christian. He isn't making a theological argument. He's just morally inverting World War II and the Holocaust, to make space for their villains to rise again.

This is what is going to happen. There will be a thin top layer of non-digital universities — and all the tech billionaires will send their kids to those places.
Total success to the first college/university that pledges to be AI-free and brand it as an opportunity to receive a real education.
My employer, Dartmouth College, today boasts it's 1st Ivy "to launch AI at an institutional scale." It is doing this by partnering--"more than a collaboration"--with Anthropic, a company that stole the books of many faculty, me included, which many of us are suing.

As a Quaker organization, we abhor all violence because we believe every person has sacred worth.

We are deeply disturbed by the wanton, unrestrained violence we are seeing this administration carry out - both at home and abroad. Thank you, Sen. Murphy, for sounding the alarm.
What we are watching - as U.S. citizens are dragged out of cars and illegal war is waged in the Caribbean - is the corruption of the most sacred power we give the President - the power of violence.

We are no longer a democracy if the regime can use violence without restraint.

The Kremlin likes to exercise rhetorical dominance over Trump and they say this in the safe knowledge that we won’t invade or that if we do it will be a disaster. Trump might think of Putin as a friend but that’s not how Russia sees the US. The US is to be humiliated, fragmented, and weakened.
I’m totally lost. I thought we were invading Venezuela. And now allies with Russia. So the friend of my “friend”
is…?
"The Russian President expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan people and confirmed his support for [the Maduro] government's course in defense of the country's sovereignty."

Looming over all the details here of dishonesty, etc. is that in the first weeks of the Administration's deportion push, they deported a man in error.

And rather than simply admit that and bring him back, they have gone to Kafka-esque lengths to punish him for the effrontery of being innocent.
