I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

Imagine posting this on the website where people, as a hobby, just put the date of Reagan's inauguration on charts that show when bad things started to happen.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

New by me at The A.V. Club!

I got to do my first ~Preview~ piece and take a look at the playtest for ABOUT FISHING, the new super atmospheric game from the developer who brought us the inimitable Arctic Eggs!

Early Access and the way they managed their community across all their updates helped humanize that team in ways that only helped Baldur’s Gate 3, weird for the studio to be so willing to throw all that goodwill away.
I think it's nice when concept art shows the evolution of people's creative processes instead of a prompt, but what do I know

What originally prompted me to spend months researching how Sega consoles and games were sold in Italy in the 80s/90s was the fact that I kept seeing people adopting "US memories", remembering things that never happened (like Sega vs. Nintendo ads).
That's (also) why preservation is important.

The marketing of Sega in Italy: from arcades to homes, 90s Italy just loved SEGA. And Giochi Preziosi loved them back with many weird ideas.

Ok, since apparently I got nominated for @nyvgcc.bsky.social's award for game journalism based on this piece, I'll share it again: felipepepe.medium.com/the-gentrifi...

Happy that it resonated with so many people across the globe, it fits nicely in a year where Despelote united Latin America XD

I told a friend of mine I’m currently playing Blue Prince and he said “Yeah, that definitely seems like a ‘you’ kind of game” and that may honestly be the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.

Folks I emphasize as always, if you don't actually show up for the things you want, they stop getting made. Sometimes you gotta be okay with taking a chance on that 7/10 game knowing it's the only way those creators get to keep making the stuff you wanna see
Keita Takahashi said 'To a T' didn't sell well enough. He moved back to Japan with his family, unsure if he will stay in the industry.

1. For at least 10 years, Pepsi has conspired with Walmart to force up grocery prices. That’s the shocking evidence made public today in an unsealed FTC lawsuit. The suit was abandoned in May by the Trump FTC just before it was to be un-redacted. We went to court to get it unsealed & won.

The devastation I feel about this attack on science in particular is hard to cope with. It’s like watching my dad die all over again. I would do anything to spare someone a death via pancreatic cancer.
A tiny trial in New York has shown that personalized mRNA vaccines can provoke massive, lasting immune responses against pancreatic cancer, even as sweeping federal cuts now threaten the fragile labs required to produce them.
