Tonight, the Groningen region in the Netherlands was shaken by a magnitude 3.4 #earthquake, according to KNMI. This is the biggest eq in the region in the past 6 years. Here's the seismogram from my Raspishake in Herne, Germany, 211 km away from the epicenter. 🧪⚒️ #Geology

This is an Eastern Cape giant cycad. This specimen at Kew Gardens is the world's oldest potted plant* & it is older than the United States.
I found this oddly comforting? Certain systems seem deeply entrenched & unchangeable but in reality there are houseplants that have been around longer.🧪🌿

A snail appreciation post. I've been collecting longitudinal population data on my rabbit snail population since I got George & Gracie in early 2020. They went on to have many children and today the population is still going strong, although slightly declining as the snails enter old age.
