To republicans, an "elite" is someone smarter than them who's on TV sometimes or writes for the newspaper. Money & power doesn't factor in. A multi billionaire who's dumb as dog shit isn't an elite, they're a regular joe shmoe just like me who happens to randomly have billions of dollars
either people specify what they mean when they say “elite” or the term is just meaningless pejorative. both parties are dominated by elites in any conventional sense of what that means! the question is: why are right-wing elites more palatable to voters than liberal ones?

It’s all fake money, it’s money they invent for military aims but would otherwise not spend. Also the poor are destitute because fixed poverty is necessary to discipline labor not because our resources go elsewhere. The Vietnam war coincided w/ great society welfare expansion. Very much same. Aggregated news and lists would make it so much more useful here.
I’m grateful to be here but I am so disoriented without some aggregated News function and the ability to curate topical lists (I.e., journalists, labor organizers, climate experts etc.) It’s brutal that the lists feature is so far only for muting accounts vs faves.
