Imagine if billionaires did things like this so much they became just simple millionaires.
Someone bought a bunch of the turkeys and hams at our local grocery in town and told the manager to make them available for free to folks that need them. There’s a whole freezer case with a sign on it that just says “If you need one take one, if you don’t then leave it for someone else.”

Brown line taker here. I see these every day. 2 have been ripped off at my stop.

If you look up this company you'll find interviews with the 20-something dudebro who founded it. He, of course, thinks the defaced ads are funny and good press. His loser energy couldn't be more palpable.
Yesterday my partner and I counted all the ads along Chicago's Brown Line for "Friend," a company selling an AI chatbot pendant, and tallied how many of those ads were defaced.

Still working on a longer piece on this, but here's the quick and dirty: we counted 104 "Friend" ads total, 42 defaced.

What if god was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us?
Just a stranger on the bus
Tryin' to make his way home?

Shanice's biggest hit is not "I Love Your Smile." It's "Un-break My Heart," where she sang backup vocals.

“In case anyone is wondering what’s going on at ‘the other place’”

I’m not. If I was I would still be there.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Somehow in all the excitement over on the @storystudiochicago.bsky.social account, I didn’t manage to share this news (from a couple weeks ago) directly myself: We were awarded a $100,000 grant from the MacArthur Foundation and could not be more excited 🧵

If you don’t want to hate read any part of that book, this was a great year for books that are actually good! I’d recommend Great Black Hope by Rob Franklin, Discontent by Beatriz Serrano, Audition by Katie Kitamura, Boom Town by Nic Stone, and The Payback, by me.
