Katie Wilson on affordability, homelessness, good governance, and what socialism means. Happy for her and for our city, AND for NYC, the Working Families Party, and the glimmering of an alternative to corporate-capture of political parties. #EndCitizensUnited

This did in fact age well.
I think that local and state gov in my blue city & state matter even more now. I need Katie Wilson to run for mayor here in Seattle. Or someone with her grassroots organizing chops, record, and understanding of the legislative system here.

We've seen enough. Katie Wilson is the next Mayor of Seattle.
🚨🚨 Just in: Katie Wilson has expanded her lead in the Seattle mayor race. She is now leading by 1,976 votes, which means that the race is no longer in automatic recount territory.

I’m thankful for brave women like Lindsey Boylan in NY and Monisha Harrell in Seattle.

They stood up to men in power, held them accountable, didn’t relent, and helped defeat them. All at great personal cost.

I have a major piece in Bloomberg Citylab today. Should the US let transit fail, as Pennsylvania is already doing? And if not, what are the arguments we need to let it succeed?

Should We Let Public Transit Die?
Urban-rural hostility is fueling a public transportation crisis in US cities. But demands to abandon bus and train riders ignore the economic and social costs of cutting service.

Freeboard displacement tests at 0mph & 10mph, as well as cathodic protection, both passed!

Goodnight and congratulations, @sound-transit.bsky.social!

I hope to wake up to hear you made it to 55!

I'm tuned into the Bainbridge Island planning commission, where a "public participation meeting" is being held on the 625 Winslow Way project.

Nearly every single commenter is speaking against building any affordable housing project on this site, regardless of how many units are included.

Here at the Sound Transit board's rider experience committee meeting where the agency will be presenting the latest draft design concepts for its Series 3 light rail vehicles.

What's being presented are cars double the length of the current LRVs, expected to increase passenger capacity by 5-12%.

This intersection is so much better than it was when I first moved to Seattle it is insane. Thank you @spottnik.bsky.social for pushing for what I assume were contentious decisions here. Hope the whole of Rainier/MLK can see this level of improvement and more soon.

Yesterday at the Sound Transit Board meeting, I questioned the necessity of an additional tunnel downtown—from CID Station to Westlake—so we could save money and better tackle the agency's financial challenges.

I’m fully committed to delivering the light rail network our region deserves.
