WSDOT put out a blog post on the future of Rainier and I-90. Of the 4 alternatives, I think this is my strong preference.

- Rainier Ave reduced to 4 lanes (currently 6)
- 2 ramps realigned, one closed
- Stop lights at all ramps

Sound Transit is about to open a station, projected to be one of the higher ridership stations in the entire system, in the middle of a freeway interchange.

WSDOT has slow-walked fixing the ramps for over a decade and has no construction funding identified.

Plenty of money for potholes though!

Some great news here!

The Canadian citizenship law is now in force. Have a Canadian ancestor? You likely have a path to Canadian citizenship by descent.

Also, the Torino courts assigned my family a new judge and he has accelerated our hearing by 1.5 years! March ‘26 is our new hearing date.
🤞

3 months left for processing on my Canadian citizenship.

The Torino court is also accelerating citizenship cases, so hopefully my family’s case gets brought forward sooner.

The Downtown Seattle Anthropologie is closing on January 18th. Just not really sure when Downtown Seattle will be able to get its retail legs back underneath it. What will it take?

Enjoyed this visual shared on r/Torino when commentors were blaming the mountains for poor air quality.

A growing Rainier Valley is incompatible with continued car-centric infrastructure. Our geography stresses this point. If our Electeds are serious about substantially improving life in this city, there is no better place to start than fixing Rainier Avenue for daily life.

Early Sunday morning, a driver struck and killed a 38-year-old named Allie who was biking across Beacon Ave S. The driver fled the scene. As a lifelong cyclist who’s had my share of close calls, my heart goes out to Allie’s family and friends.

A type of guy that perplexes me are the left leaning contrarians who swung right because their contrarian nature pushed them to ideologically turn against their friend groups. Just based on personal experience, seems like this happens with men in their 20s-30s a decent amount.

When Musk turned Twitter into a Nazi site, I told myself I was okay with losing out on a bit of sports news (in both depth and speed) to stop being exposed to that rhetoric. Actually haven’t felt like I lost out on much.
I just really worry about my friends who are on Twitter for sports and are texting me saying "hey, did you hear the news Candace Owens dropped about such and such?" The constant, hounding propaganda campaign exposure on that app is dangerous for both the educated and the politically uninterested.

Three things that live in my head when my friends start complaining about high taxes and inadequate services living in Seattle and Washington State are how much of the budget Seattle gives to its police Department, how much of our infrastructure goes to freeways, and the resistance to upzones.

HAPPENING NOW: A group of protesters have reportedly taken over the intersection on Beacon Hill where someone on a bike was killed by a hit-and-run driver early this morning.

I'm not on the scene yet, but was sent this photo from Beacon Avenue and Stevens Street.

A couple weeks back, I found some architectural drawings (guessing from Bassetti renovation) of Franklin High School, but now I can’t find them. I recall them being on a site with a collection of historic images of other Seattle schools. So they’re buried in a digital folder somewhere. Any ideas?

Heard O’Dea lost to Rainier Beach in hoops last night. Tons of scooters outside their gym (that students presumably took to the game) this morning when I arrived for mass.

Pretty great trio of new businesses here on Beacon Hill. A wine bar, cheese store, and stationary and gifts store all opened up in this former office building somewhat recently.

Saw that Gronk is hosting the LA bowl for the Dawgs today and thought of a fresh new Hell where AI companies have their chat bots commentate bowl games as full game advertisements. I want out…
