My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

Canada's new budget wants to invest in AI. But nothing about reducing and preventing mass layoffs.

I hope Mamdani will able to bring his promises to life and make a difference.

It would also inspire sane, passionate, and kinder young folks to enter politicians. We don't need more riches, old folks, and lobbyists in politics.

There is a photo of Trump standing while someone had fainted at Oval office.

Reminds me of the video where Obama caught a fainting pregnant and diabetic woman during a speech.

The USA had some goodies, then voted the worst twice. 🫩

A big win for the disability community today as US District Judge Amir Ali orders the White House to restore ASL interpretation to press briefings.

They ruled that ending the accessibility measure illegally excluded deaf Americans from government updates.

Honestly there should be a tax or charge for companies doing mass layoffs.

It only add strains to the government's, society, and to economy.

Almost everyday I would read news about layoffs or "restructurings".

At thos rate, how the heck are those companies will have customers and clients to earn revenues? 🤔

Public service workers in the USA don't get paid for +5 weeks.

Public service workers in BC was on strike for ~7 weeks.

Teachers in AB was on strike until they were forced back to work.

Canada Post was on strike twice until they were forced back to work.

Politicians just don't care.

That being said, I need to find opportunities (including volunteering) and projects for accessibility, content creation, and things I am passionate about.
After 20 months of job hunting, finally found a job as a HVAC cleaning technician.

White collar to blue collar. Not something I expected or looked into.

As many white-collar jobs are being replaced, downgraded, or outsourced, blue-collar jobs feel safer.

Is this democracy they are proud of?

I’m having a terrible time searching for this, but I’m after stuff about how tiktok style captions (colouring or changing the size of words etc) aren’t very accessible. I’ve seen people talk about it but I didn’t save any of it.

Exactly this. Transphobia is bad and worth condemning. When it’s directed at somebody who is actually cis, the problem isn’t that the bigot is wrong about them being trans, the problem remains the transphobia.
This is from a few years ago, but it reminded me a bit of this. Singh was faced with anti-Muslim racism and instead of simply clarifying that he isn't Muslim (he's Sikh) he stood up for being anti-racist, even if it doesn't impact you personally. Being trans isn't bad. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
