Hi authors! Please remember to file a claim!
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

Because some people haven't heard it yet: PAYPAL IS NOT A BANK, DO NOT LEAVE MORE THAN A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS SITTING IN YOUR ACCOUNT AT ANY TIME. MOVE IT TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY.

Paypal can and will close your account and steal all your money without warning. And have done MANY times.

As I've been saying: real money to random reward pipelines should always be classified as gambling. Doesn't matter if we're talking digital or physical, it should be considered gambling and heavily regulated accordingly. Can't sell for anyone under 18, can't be advertised in most places, etc.
New research: spending money on physical #CardPacks is also linked to problem gambling. 🎰

We answer an FAQ: enough about video game #LootBoxes; what about Pokémon / Magic: The Gathering cards? 🃏💳

We surveyed ≈2,000 card game players in English-speaking Western countries: doi.org/10.1037/adb0....

Oh my god, Copilot is allowed to create and fix issues on Microsoft github repos and it goes exactly as you'd have imagined.

Try going into any of these PRs commits to see poor Microsoft engineers try to coerce Copilot into doing literally anything right.

It is absolutely ridiculous how "we are punishing anything with vague aesthetics of gambling even if there's zero actual gambling" keeps happening, all the while nothing is done about the actually harmful lootbox gambling shit plaguing #games. Fuck you Google & co

And this is by no means a new gripe, but the undiscoverable nature of Discord servers sucks and it's a terrible wider support platform for that reason. It'd be nice if devs ran their own forums you could browse on the web but barely anyone does that these days for multiple reasons.

2 years ago I responded to a Tweet from @shankmods.bsky.social

It turned into an unforgettable adventure

Shank is a great storyteller, and the video he made chronicling the whole ordeal is truly something special

Even if you have no interest in CRTs, it’s worth a watch!

Yes please to any legislation that will call out DRM-encumbered digital as the undefined time period rental that it truly is. The only way to truly buy and own digital media is via DRM-free files that you can download, copy, and store on your devices however you want, forever.
Consumers are being sold an illusion of ownership. "Buy" a digital movie, an e-book, or a game today? Tomorrow, it could vanish. 🕳️

Senator @wyden.senate.gov is calling on the FTC to crack down on this digital "bait-and-switch." ➡️ blog.archive.org/2025/02/28/w...

1/4 Life hack: uninstalling the Notepad app in Windows 11 gives you back old notepad.exe that starts faster and uses less memory. This Notepad is going to be a bit cursed and registry hacks are needed to uncurse it. 👇

To give a more concrete example re: subtitle rendering, here's @nebula.tv, YouTube, and what I'd like to see. The linebreaking on Nebula is awful and the sub box desperately needs padding, although ideally I'd like to see a proper outer stroke and subtle shadow for pleasing but well readable subs.

And while the last image there is what I'd personally like to see as the default presentation-wise (do read the alt text on the images for detailed explanations), Nebula should definitely also have customization options for how subs are presented to tweak stuff like size, background type, etc.

this thing is a bit wonky on firefox due to `scrollbar-gutter: stable both-edges` causing extra padding on the left side 🫤
