I can’t quite get it up for the whole “we need to listen to these people” thing that we did in 2016. I’m certainly not saying anyone is irredeemably evil or anything but I do believe there’s a moral crisis, a crisis of principles in this country

Okay, I get what people are saying with this, but please do not forget that a LOT of trans people in hostile states also just don’t really have embedded local networks or communities. This is very situational, and those of us who WANT out badly shouldn’t be erased either.

this was and is a serious suggestion. if cis ppl are really worried about their trans friends, then one of y'all should get on organizing it. if you leave it up to us to save ourselves, we'll do it. but you have a shot to be an actual ally. now's the time to step up.
maybe all the ppl telling trans folks to get out passports in order should figure out how to start a donation fund to pay for that bc otherwise you're just lecturing ppl who damn well know the danger we're in without actually doing anything to help.
