that "final" underworld run where Mel has 0 chatter after a certain boss (& certain people won't show up)

it's just so creepy

wanting to write an essay on captions and how it's obvious when well-meaning people don't check their captions or misunderstand that captions are for accessibility not expression despite their similiarities with written text

and then realizing that that should probably be a video essay

pickup trucks for the average person should not have been allowed to advance past this. if you need anything bigger, you should have to provide some kind of documentation showing you have the license and need for special heavy machinery, otherwise you get the 1990 toyota hilux

my biggest gripe for Hades 2 is they put in a ton of resources and then barely use them past unlocking the weapons & incantations. there's plenty of cool items in the decorations that are just kudos + boss resource and it's boring tbqh considering the lovely descriptions.

going to social events and having to decide if I should explain how social anxiety is sometimes not just shyness but acute agoraphobia & I don't get to know what is too much until I'm there, or if I should just nod along and do the easiest/quickest thing possible so I can stop having an awkward time

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

the local mayoral race flipped from losing by 46 votes to ultimately winning by 18 votes, after counting all the provisional ballots

in case anyone thought their vote didn't matter locally

maybe i should play this game sober

I got loaned two books at once (like, personally, not library borrowing) and have to binge both while my brain constantly wants to get back to thinking about how Hades 2 interacts with myth structure.

just fyi, muting works on through the quote posts

so if you do the quote-post journey, and even like 4-posts deep, there's a muted word, the whole quote thread will be that "Post Not Shown Because Muted Word" button requiring clicking to find out what even set it off in the first place
November 12, 2025 at 11:00 PM
if you put the actual text of the screenshotted emails in the ALT text, then mute filters can work even better
November 12, 2025 at 10:53 PM
if the joke is in the image,
the joke should also be in the ALT text

when there's 2k characters allowance, one-liner summary ALT text is not cool

I think that with how uncertain things are right now for the arts, it's especially frustrating when given the advice from artist to artist that in order to survive, you have to do more, and that it's seemingly at the point where whatever more we have to do, it's never actually enough.

sharing all the epstein emails is an easy way to practice using a text-grabbing app to grab the text and paste it into ALT text 👀

I have actually hand-washed clothes in a sink before (during a study-abroad when we simply weren't near laundromats) and it is doable for like a week of "I know I'm wearing this 2-3 times before I wash it" wearables.

It is too much time & phys space (drying!) for regular doing.
November 12, 2025 at 4:59 PM
"they have laundry delivery services!" in nyc maybe

over here in suburbia hell virginia the nearest laundromat requires a car, not just the physical ability to lug your shit around

there is also 1 public laundromat in this college town. everything else is shared by apartment buildings.

in the pandemic, after my neighbors left for break & didn't return, I learned that it was sharing apartment/dorm washers that made my skin itch from my own clothes because everyone else was using the most scented whatevers at every stage

in-unit washer w/ similarly sensitive roommates is amazing
I don't understand why anyone would pick an in-unit washer over a dishwasher.

Good literary translation requires understanding (language, culture, genre--on both sides of the translation) and an ability to write well. "AI" can't do that. There are no shortcuts. Treat your work and foreign language readers with the respect they deserve. You won't fool anyone with this.

AI can't do that. It can't understand the words or the characters it's "voicing." It can't understand your intent and has no intent of its own. You need a real actor to do this.

The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...
