On our first date, my wife and I (after connecting on OKCupid) went to a loud sports bar, left after a drink and went to a nearby movie theater where we were the only ones for an evening showing of Green Hornet, exactly 15 years ago yesterday.
This is an unapologetically sappy feel-good subject (at least, I guess, for people in a happy relationship”). So, to prepare for Valentine’s Day, what did you and your partner do for a first date?

My wife and I went to tea at Huntington Gardens and walked around.
On our first date, my spouse and I spent like an hour talking about footnotes.

The overuse of words like banquet really make them feel like a collection of insects wearing men suits.

"Yes... Yes... Soon will be... The HARVEST. And then... THE BANQUET!!!!"
Bessent: "2025 was about setting the table. 2026 is gonna be a banquet for the American people. The economy is taking off."

"In 1999, I interviewed Prince for TIME and he told me to leave my tape recorder off because he didn’t trust what future technology might do with unauthorized recordings of his voice.

At the time, I thought Prince was being paranoid..."

It's Time to Rage Against the AI Music Machine
If AI music takes over "humans will begin to echo the machines, and there will be a downward spiral into slop."

I knew this was going to happen. I knew he was going to start with "well if you really want to know, I didn't dodge the whole draft..." sooner or later. Gotta rewrite how little he has contributed, to anything, his entire life.
Trump: "Connecticut is an extremely corrupt voting place. That's why a guy like Blumenthal can keep getting elected. He admitted he cheated on the war. I went to Vietnam for a couple of days and I spent two more days than he did there. He was never there."

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

Making a bunch of rubes temporarily rich with fake Internet money was a pretty good cover for all the crime and pedophilia.

Swear to god, ICE could just announce they're leaving a city but not leave and the media will just stop covering that city completely even though ICE never left.

It's what ICE and the media did with LA and they're doing it with Minneapolis too

It's really easy and worth doing.
A good thing you can do about this instead of dooming is Google “how to become a poll observer in [your town]”
Breaking:

The White House press secretary just said she "can't guarantee" that ICE won't be around polling locations in November.

I have to think SAUSA job postings are pretty uncommon.

If she is on a SAUSA DOJ detail from another agency, that could have started 1-3 years ago (they can be extended), and she might have little control over her work assignment for the duration.
She wasn't a general assignment AUSA roped into this. If you believe someone who was deporting people before choosing to join the fight to keep people detained during the middle of the ICE occupation was actually trying to fix the problem from the inside, I think you're a little naïve and credulous.

The GOP has offered nothing this century except for catastrophic wars. No healthcare plan; no re-industrialization. Now they're losing their only issue, immigration, as people see the violence and havoc that comes with mass deportations.
Wow! What sounded like the entire AEW Dynamite audience in Las Vegas tonight chanted "Fuck ICE! Fuck ICE!" in unison before the main event

The Trump era exposed how badly Congress erred over decades by granting the president emergency powers in certain situations while also making the president the one who decides when we’re in those situations.

ICE can’t mask except when ICE’s boss says it’s necessary? Repeating that same mistake.
