Writer, bookwyrm, gamer geek, TTRPG hoarder, Star Wars obsessive. She/her.
If you stop and think about it, the implied worldbuilding in The Sims is really weird. Not because of the aliens, the vampires, or the people who get up from the table to place their plate on the floor two steps from the sink, but because of the timeline.

Started cataloguing my TTRPGs while I listen to podcasts, and going through all the old D&D stuff is such a pleasure. Planescape, Birthright, Dark Sun, Dragonlance… the mid-late TSR era might’ve been unsustainable, but it was briefly glorious.

I took a leave of absence from social media because, among other assorted and accumulated awfulness, my dad was diagnosed with cancer. I have been persuaded that social isolation is not the best coping method for stress, and that outlets to talk about the things I love are nice. Hello skyline.

I've been really enjoying this. My father has a deep and abiding loathing of garden gnomes over which my mother and I have trolled him greatly over the years; I should read this to him, actually.
I’m 12 episodes into a weekly serial on my Substack: Witches of Lychford: Night of the Gnomes, fantasy fun with serious undercurrents. I’m getting some lovely comments. Paid subscribers get a year of episodes, making two novellas and festive special. Check it out! https://paulcornell.substack.com/

Well, something in my computer just made a loud crashing noise, and my partner is bedridden with the plague, so… powering it down and hoping it’s something easy and obvious, or I’m out of commission for days, minimum. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I struggle a lot with names, and occasionally I confuse casual or professional acquaintances who have died with ones who, erm, haven’t. I was just surprised by an email from someone I thought died three years ago.

Or maybe Vodafone have really upped their network coverage.

Looking at the recent App Store reviews of Xitter is a trip. I can’t pick my favourite, the person who prefers getting info from Xitter because TV brainwashed people, or the person who thinks Xitter is fine except it’s ‘pulling [children] from heaven into hell for committing the sin of lust’.

Bluesky is slow, what did Musk do now?

Oh yeah. That’ll do it. Welcome, newskies. It’s good here. 🩵

Just a heads up.

Screenshot invite codes from now on if you're DM'ing them to someone on Twitter. Maybe don't use the word Bluesky in the message to be on the safe side as well.
Lol now if you try to send a bsky code in a DM Twitter will block it and make you do a captcha as punishment

Pretty much anything by Rowan, Rook and Decard is worth backing sight unseen, but this looks really fun.

My partner has… something? Hopefully not covid. Would be the second time in a year, and he’s way more careful than any other abled person I see. My neck is exploding. Retreating to the comforts of (digital) retail therapy, a bucket of painkillers, and more Land of Eem.

Saw a new CHVRCHES single had dropped and was immeasurably excited until someone who's not Lauren Mayberry started singing. Wake me up when it's over...

what is your first childhood memory of doing something online?

People who know they’re alone in the house, hear a weird noise, and shout ‘Hello?’

One of these days I want the burglar/serial killer/monster to respond with a cheery Obi-Wan Kenobi ‘Hello there!’

Bonus: The lights don’t work, but if I flick the switch on and off 14 times, maybe they’ll warm up.
Reskeet with your most tired TV trope.

We had an Atari 2600 but I was very little, so it was more my mum's than mine. My earliest gaming memory is playing the Smurfs on it though. The first console bought specifically for me was the MegaDrive.

That comes in a really close second for favourite, but #1 has to be the OG Playstation.

What's the current hotness in casual blogging platforms? The last time I had a blog, it was a Serious Blog, with an IT person who worked Wordpress magic. I am tempted to have a very unserious blog, something with minimal setup, but no algorithmic platforms, which I think Tumblr is?

‘…like every writer, he measured other men’s virtues by what they had accomplished, yet asked that other men measure him by what he planned someday to do.’

Ouch. Ever felt called out by Borges?

Staying in bed today with the collected fictions of Borges (reread) and Kemi Ashing-Giwa’s ‘The Splinter in the Sky’, which is certainly grabbing me so far.

Got through Good Omens 2 a little slower than we'd have liked due to my partner's absence and then his mum being in hospital, but we're done now and I'll just spend the rest of the day picking up the shattered pieces of my heart, shall I?

Anya: Now if I can just have my book back, you'll be on your way someplace else?

Oh, so THAT'S which Buffy character I'd be.
