For all my new Irish friends, because of the strangest case of mistaken identity in the history of Irish-American relations, I've been invited to be interviewed by Katie Hannon. The taping is tomorrow and I'll let you know when it's scheduled to be aired

Brits don't do Thanksgiving because if we had to take a day off for the anniversary of us fucking over a native people and ruining their country we'd never have to go to work.

Your occasional reminder that when it comes to public transport, frequency drives everything.

People will pay more for a higher frequency service.
New transit study: Service frequency and coverage both drive ridership, but frequency matters more.

So even after it’s shoved down our throats—an entire RTE debate!?—only 6 percent of voters main concern is immigration? A slice of that won’t simply be “too much” either. I guess at least 95 percent think Ireland Has Room…

What’s the value of the humanities?

Well one answer might be to teach people not to misread the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy to think it’s core lesson is that we need to colonise other planets

A little note to Americans that think Conor McGregor could be Irish President.

You may be happy with a rapist as a president, but we would not.

Hey @colmpm.bsky.social you might be interested. Dunno about other constituencies, but if Kerry is any different to this I'll eat my hat.
In fact, I'd eat half a jar of mayonnaise (aka evil slime), that's how confident I am.
Rough seat projection up to and including today's IPSOS/B&A poll. Map also included.

Would emphasise again that this is rough, so caution on the margins needed here.

A more polished version will be done after the RedC poll, and I anticipate a decent degree of change.

Insane to read this in The Times in October 2024. 14 years after the Bloody Sunday inquiry. Qualifying it with a single reference to the Savile Report - which debunks and refutes every single word of this account - as being "far more critical" does not cut it. This is outrageous.

I have some questions for @timeshighered.bsky.social. The first of those questions is, what the actual fuck do you think you’re doing with this photo? This is bad enough that it not only needs removing, it also needs explaining.

Finding it so difficult to read anything about Gaza now. Can't process at all what it must be like to live it.
A man-made horror happening in front of us.
Al-Awda hospital, the last functioning hospital in northern Gaza, has been attacked and besieged by the apartheid regime for ten weeks.
