🎄 For #InsectAdvent Day 5, meet #Mecoptera 🦂

#WinterFact: ‘#SnowFleas’, a #Mecopteran of the family #Boreidae, aren't actually fleas - The name is often used for a species of #scorpionfly ❄️

#WorldSoilDay: Their presence is an indicator of healthy soil rich in organic matter.

I'm pretty pleased with my ingenuity getting my new patches from @rachelquinlan.bsky.social on my bag using a hair iron. My backpack is full of bsky friends, sea scene pin is from @aspenhearted.bsky.social, squid sticker from @thefuzzyslug.bsky.social, whalefall pin from @fossilforager.bsky.social

Chūshingura is a very well-known incident from the Edo period in Japan, and in later generations it has been adapted into many plays and films. I am also interested in this story, and I have created fountain pens using it as a motif, which are being sold by Sailor.

Another cool find at Emerald Arch in Ecuador was this membracid treehopper (Anchistrotus sp.) with its enormous helmet. While much more sluggish compared to other treehoppers, this species is quick to break off and drop its helmet when disturbed, allowing it to take off swiftly to escape danger.

I’ve been sick after a period of intense work but on the other hand I was able to slow down and draw something fun & relaxing… hope you folks enjoy it too!

The folding card is complete, except for cover art. Glueing it together was a pain, first go resulted in torn paper so now has a 'distressed' look inside but art work wasn't damaged thankfully. Drawings slot in so can be removed and then framed if liked.
